Hi everyone,
'I've had a Thermo Top E with a T80 installed since Monday, and it doesn't have a timer. I'm having a problem with the ventilation-only mode (i.e., the heater is off).'
Starting condition: Car is cold, outside temperature is approximately 5°C, Climatronic was set to a specific fan speed before being turned off.
I am programming the remote control to operate in recirculation mode. The LED on the T80 illuminates green when 'off' is pressed. (Counter-test: Press 'on' and 'off' simultaneously twice --> When 'off' is pressed subsequently, the LED illuminates red.)
Then I want to start the ventilation system (essentially as a 'preliminary test' for the summer and to check if the auxiliary heater is working correctly) and I press 'on' --> the LED lights up green and then starts blinking slowly and regularly. After the T80, the vehicle ventilation should now be running.
Aber: Heizgerät fängt an zu laufen, Dieselpumpe läuft an, Wasser-Umwälzpumpe läuft an, heisse Luft kommt aus der Standheizung. Climatronic ist und bleibt aus (Keine Anzeige im Display). Was What's going on there?
Additional information about the Climatronic: When in heating mode, the Climatronic initially turns off, but then turns on again after a certain period.
I would have expected that when the ventilation system is activated by pressing 'on', the Climatronic would immediately start, the fan would turn on, and the heater would remain off!
Does anyone have any ideas?
'Does anyone have the workshop manual and/or installation instructions for the T80? I have already been provided with the workshop manual for the auxiliary heater itself by another helpful forum member.'
Thank you in advance for your help!!!

Strange...
In summer mode, the SH functions identically to heating mode: it simply activates the Climatronic system.
In the summer, it tries to cool down to the set temperature, so it runs the fan at full speed if the temperature inside is 60°C.
Set the Climatronic to a specific speed before turning it off.
what does that mean?
How old is your car?
'The newer Climatronics are simply turned on via a wire (power for the fan is then routed through a relay). Then, it goes into 'HE' mode and starts working automatically.'
In AUTO mode, it will adjust to the set temperature using a maximum of half the fan speed, or it will retain the last settings used (if not in AUTO mode).

Hi Gremlin,
In my opinion, it should be like this:
A) Winter operation:
1.) The auxiliary heater starts burning diesel and heats the water.
2.) If the water temperature is 30°C, the Climatronic system will be activated (with the previously selected settings).
3.) The Climatronic system now controls the ventilation.
B) Summer operation:
0.) The diesel-powered heater remains off.
1.) Climatronic is activated.
2.) Climatronic controls the ventilation system.
However, in my case, the diesel heater starts up right away during the summer operation.

As you describe it, that's how it should be...
I suspect there might be a bug in your heating system or with the remote control...
Unfortunately, I'm on vacation right now, but a colleague just installed a brand new SH with a T80.

Hi Gremlin,
Could it also be that the summer operations are not possible given the currently low temperatures?

Hello,
The device might be 'smarter' than you think!

That would be something completely new...
I don't want to rule out the possibility that a heroic engineer might have wanted to immortalize themselves in something so foolish.
But when I set it to 'ventilation' mode, that's actually what I mean. In any case, I haven't come across any heating system that has its own opinion about that.

Hi,
Gremlin, does that mean you can set your SH to 'ventilation only' even in winter when it's -8°C?
...why do I have to do everything myself in this damn world if I want things to work?
You spend a lot of money so that you don't have to work or worry, and then .
Ich werde meine bösen Gedanken in einer guten Flasche Rotwein ertränken. BIt's tomorrow.
Edit: What is the purpose of the outside temperature sensor, as shown in the wiring diagram in the workshop manual?
Regards,
Micha (I'm done!)

Certainly.
Edit: What is the purpose of the outside temperature sensor, as shown in the wiring diagram in the workshop manual?
I have an Eberspächer with TP5, and the sensor in the remote control shows me how cold (or how warm) it is in the car...
It can be helpful or demotivating; who wants to get out of bed when the temperature is -15°C?
Webasto offers a premium remote control with heating time management. It heats the vehicle so that it's warm and ready to go at your desired departure time.
It's possible that the sensor is intended for that purpose, because in order to manage the heating, the system naturally needs to know how cold it is outside.

I suspect that the "summer operation" line between TP5 and STH is simply disconnected. There's a dedicated line for this purpose. If it's missing or disconnected, it would cause exactly the effect you're describing.
I can easily imagine the workshop that installed it thinking, "No one needs this; we can leave it out, after all, it's supposed to be used as a heater."
Just measure that one cable.

Hi,
Thanks for the tip! How exactly is the TP5 line connected?
Heating '+12V' or Heating 'Ground' or Ventilation '+12V' or Ventilation 'Ground'?
I should at least know how it's supposed to be done, otherwise I won't be able to do much with the measurement.

When heating, the switch is simply open, and the cable is therefore not firmly connected to 12V or ground. It is likely pulled to a certain level (which I don't know) via a resistor in the STH (heating system). When ventilating, the line is pulled to a fixed level. I believe it was to ground, but I'm not 100% sure.
Here's the translation:
"One thing is certain: you need to measure a difference between the ventilation and heating functions on this line. It's the purple wire. For the test, simply connect it to ground, and I'm fairly certain it will then activate the ventilation. The T80 receiver is connected using a Y-cable, as far as I know. The purple wire is not included in the Y-cable and needs to be connected separately at this point. It's likely that this was forgotten."

Guste.

Hi,
'@Guste: I just reviewed everything again: There's a 5-pin connector at the Teletop. The violet wire is connected to ground depending on the mode (heating/ventilation), or it's not. And now here's the kicker: The installer used the violet wire as a return line from the auxiliary heater to the climate control system!!!'
'How is it supposed to be normally? The cable coming from the Teletop splits into two four-pin connectors: one goes to the heating device, and the other...?? In my case, that one is free!! (It's probably for the clock.)'
The four-pin connector for the heating device has the following wire colors: red, black, purple, and brown.
What is brown used for?
How is the Climatronic system typically controlled? Does the cable that normally activates the blower relay connect to the Climatronic? How is this cable routed, or is there a pre-wired harness for it?
Thank you very much, Guste, for your help so far!
Regards,
Micha.

If I recall correctly.
red: 12V
brown: mass
black: turn on the heater (if connected to 12V).
purple: standing ventilation (when on mass)
A separate cable is run to the Climatronic (coming from the relay). It is connected to T16a/Pin 1 of the Climatronic.

Hi,
My installer didn't connect the brown wire at all!
Is there an installation guide or something similar available for the TeleTop?

Micha.

Hi,
Okay, the ventilation system is now working!
In my opinion, what dominated the 'troubleshooting' (today from 7:00 PM to 9:15 PM) was reckless experimentation, indiscriminate cutting of cable strands, and aimless soldering. Not all fuses remained intact .
The error code 4F9 in the Climatronic system is puzzling, as it indicates a faulty fuse for the air conditioning compressor clutch. Unfortunately, all the fuses in the fuse box appear to be fine!
I will read out all the error codes tomorrow and see if there are any errors in any other control units as well.
Can someone tell me what to do if there are actually more errors stored? (Before each visit to the workshop, I read out the error codes. Today at 6:00 PM, there were no errors in any of the control units!)
If anyone in Leonberg (zip code 71229) would like to have a parking heater installed, I would...
'I no longer want to have it repaired at a workshop on Böblinger Strasse.'
