My G4 ALH has been experiencing intermittent issues with the instrument cluster for some time. The problem manifests as a temporary drop in the displayed RPM and speed, which then recovers.
Are these just minor fluctuations in the delivery unit, or is something bigger brewing?

Sometimes my speedometer would stop working intermittently, and then it would fail completely; it turned out to be the speed sensor in the transmission.
If the speedometer and tachometer are affected, it's likely a problem with the instrument cluster.

@günther: The rest of the AI is working perfectly! BC and Co. aren't messing around.
As long as it's "just" the givers, it's not that bad... but it's annoying.

I had the same issue with my Golf 4 AJM.
My speedometer, tachometer, temperature gauge, and fuel gauge have all stopped working.

I had to replace the instrument cluster because I couldn't find any replacement parts anywhere.

My analog-to-digital converter may have malfunctioned intermittently.

Try checking if the indicators work during the actuator diagnosis. If they still don't work there, then the control unit (KI) is likely defective.
