Good evening.
This morning, I noticed a knocking sound in my Passat with the 1Z engine.
The car now has 235,000 kilometers on the odometer. The timing belt needs to be replaced in approximately 20,000 kilometers, and it was manufactured in November 1995, making it a 1996 model.
VAG-Com produced the following error message:
00550 - Injection start control - 17-00 - Control difference.
I then checked the injection timing using TDI Graph, and the following message appeared:
SB kann nicht angezeigt werden. Too early!
When I showed a colleague the TDI graph recently, he said: 'The baseline is okay, but it's too early!'
SB was exactly right before.
Apparently, he started adjusting it there already. A friend mentioned that it might be due to the crankshaft pulley bolt.
'That's really solid. I should probably update to the new version too (after reading what people have said in this forum).'
If the screw is now tightened, could it still be that the KW wheel has moved? Or what else could cause the injection timing to shift?
Nothing at the pump should be able to adjust itself automatically.
Is there actually anything wrong with putting the car in gear and pressing the brake pedal so that the engine doesn't rev up?
I was going to use an impact wrench to remove the screw, but I'm just missing a 19mm Torx socket.
Here are some suggestions I found in the forum:
And now, torque values for TDIs.
Starting from engine type 2.95 (with ribbed belt), tighten the central bolt with 160 Nm and 180 degrees of rotation; lubricate the contact surface of the bolt and threads. Tighten the four mounting screws for the vibration dampers with 20 Nm and 90 degrees of rotation.
Tighten the central bolt with 460 Nm using a V-belt and sealant paste, applicable up to vehicle year 1995.
The 4 mounting screws for the vibration dampers should be tightened to 20 Nm.
Is that correct?
I suppose you won't be able to get a part through the emergency service, right?
