Hi,
I have a slight problem, and unfortunately, I'm not even remotely near my laptop or diagnostic cable right now.
My 1Z engine, which has been running with 0.216 injectors for 10,000 km, has recently started smelling terribly at idle. It smells like too much diesel is being injected, but it's not burning properly.
The turbocharger pressure is fine so far.
I just found a voltmeter at a hardware store, and when the engine is idling, it's reading right at the upper limit, over 14 volts. When I accelerate, it doesn't go below 7 volts.
Since then, it has also been making a significant amount of noise, regardless of the engine speed.
Could it be that the pump has somehow become misaligned?
I'm not really in the mood to mess around with things so far away from home, but it's definitely worrying me. It starts up perfectly, whether it's cold or warm.
If someone advises me to adjust something, it should probably be in the direction of making it earlier, right? Can I use the 0.8-1.2 volts mentioned in the article that Rainer recommends as a guideline?
