I'm just wondering where the workshop plans to get the TCA 700 Y from. As far as I know, it's no longer in production. I would have chosen the standard 08/15 78S10 model, which is also used in Audi combination instrument panels.

Just remember that not all voltage regulators are compatible with each other. I'm not familiar with the TCA 700, so I can't say anything about it. Some (like the LM317, LT1086, etc.) just have the IN-GND-OUT pins arranged in a different order, GND-OUT-IN, just for fun...
However, the 2940 is pin-compatible with the 78xx series, with the IN-GND-OUT pinout. Golf 7 GTI |

Hi,
The LM317 is an adjustable voltage regulator. Pin 1 is not ground, it's adjust!

Hi!
Thank you for your input and troubleshooting tips. Because I was running out of time, I had a new circuit board installed, and everything is working fine now. The fuel gauge seems accurate, the temperature gauge is rising, and the instrument lighting appears to be much brighter than before, at least that's my impression.
Best regards,

I also only replaced the voltage regulator once, on a Passat. I got it from an electronics store. However, the connectors on that type were different from the original. I ended up soldering it using thin wires to make it fit, and it works fine. "In addition, I soldered the cables directly to the 12V terminal 15 and connected the output to the temperature and fuel gauges using a separate cable (soldered)." |
