Okay, just so you know, I now understand what the problem is. Attached to the flange of my turbocharger is usually a type of silencer that's part of the turbocharger assembly and isn't available separately. The only solutions are either to machine your own flange or to install a compressor housing from a GT1749VB with part number xxx016G. I'm going to try the latter now... Hello Marzocchi,
Has anything developed in the meantime? Have you found a different compressor housing or managed to modify a flange?
Greetings,
Thomas. -----------------------------------------------------

Okay, so I just installed a compressor housing from a 016G turbocharger. It seems to be working well so far. However, I'm still experiencing the rattling noise at full boost pressure (which is why I actually replaced the turbo in the first place). Does anyone here have any ideas about where this rattling could be coming from, specifically when it only occurs at full boost pressure, and if it's not related to the turbo itself? Perhaps something like this?

Thank you for the link, Ulf.
But that's probably not my problem.
"The rattling noise doesn't occur when I release the accelerator. It's independent of engine speed. I can pinpoint the rattling directly to the LDA (Linear Differential Actuator). It starts very quietly at 0.8 bar, is clearly noticeable as a background noise at 1 bar, and becomes quite dominant at 1.35 bar (I don't use any more pressure). As the pressure decreases, the noise also gets quieter – until it disappears completely below 0.8 bar."
It can't actually be the turbocharger; I replaced it as I mentioned, and the rattling noise is still exactly the same.
It's subjective, but it seems to be coming from the direction of the glove compartment. Golf IV - ALH - Erstzulassung 9/99

Hello,
Besides the possibility that it could be any part that has come loose, could you check how much space there is between your exhaust pipe (the pipe between the catalytic converter and the turbo) and the underbody/splash guard? In my case, the pipe was lightly touching the tunnel plate, which also caused a rattling sound. But as I said, it could be anything from a nut that fell behind the glove compartment to a loose heat shield.
Since it's not dependent on engine speed, but rather on load – and therefore boost pressure –...
Could it be that the increasing engine rocking motion is causing more noise?
Have you found or created an ATL support structure? This has acoustic reasons as well.
Best regards,
Thomas. -----------------------------------------------------

Hello, hmm, I guess I'll have to start looking again.

Ui. HäAccording to bombig.
I actually just solved my problem, and I'm very happy .
"I made two changes. First, I properly reattached the headlight cable that was loose and touching the plastic turbocharger boost pipe. Second, I patched up the small hole (which I had previously drilled to take a pressure reading for the LDA) in the 90-degree bend hose just before the EGR valve."
I think it was the cable though... Anyway, there's no more rattling now. I didn't expect the plastic pipe to vibrate so much at high boost pressure, but I guess it has to, otherwise it would make noise... Golf IV - ALH - Erstzulassung 9/99

I think it was more likely the hole – I also had a faulty charge air cooler recently where there was a small leak. The noise was a slight rattling sound at higher boost pressures. After replacing it, the problem was definitely gone.

Hello, it turns out the problem was a small hole in the pressure hose. Yesterday, while on the highway, the BW tape came loose again (it got too hot), and the rattling noise is back. Does anyone know how to fix a needle-sized hole in the 90-degree bend without having to buy a whole new €40 hose? Golf IV - ALH - Erstzulassung 9/99

@ Marzocchi
"The inner tube has a puncture. verschandeln it, then apply the adhesive patch from the repair kit to the inside of the tube and vulcanize it in place. Since you know there's significant pressure buildup in that hose, you should try this method. Otherwise, you might have to replace the entire hose. If even that doesn't hold, you'll need to replace it."
Maybe it will also work if you stick your tape on from the inside? A4 Avant 2,5 tdi 110kw; AFB; BJ2000

Hi, I've already tried patching the bicycle tire from the outside, but unfortunately, it didn't hold. It would technically be possible to do it from the inside, but I'm worried that it might come loose. If the patch is forced into the motor with 1.5 bar (there's not much left after the pipe except for the AGR...), I doubt it will go down easily... Golf IV - ALH - Erstzulassung 9/99

If it doesn't hold, you'll probably have to pay the €40 and put a new one on. Then nothing can go wrong. "Basteln" is always tinkering/building things.
Then you learned for 40€ that you shouldn't poke a hole in a hose like that .
