Hello Bavarian.
Then, based on the engine code (MKB) and the diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs), you should be able to tell whether the engine has a special tuning compared to the standard 80 hp TDI.
Unfortunately, I don't have any data on the new 1.4 TDI Polos . |

Hi everyone,
Autokiste.de writes about the BlueMotion, mentioning an optimized AGR (acoustic roll control), a turbocharger with variable turbine geometry (VTG) ==> maximum torque at 1800 rpm instead of 2200 rpm (according to auto motor und sport - 195 Nm at 1800 rpm), and a transmission with a gear ratio that is approximately 12-24% longer in gears 3 through 5.
Best regards,
Crunch.

It's strange that VW is unaware of the changes in torque values.

Hmm... according to the picture, I would say that Dieselmartin didn't choose the BlueMotion version. At least, the front grille is the standard one.
Best regards.

Sure, pretzel.
The issue is that the "80" Blue and the standard Blue appear very similar.
@guste
In the technical specifications for both engines, "2200" is listed as the upper limit. However, they differ in the configuration.

Does the standard Polo also have a VTG turbocharger, or only the BlueMotion version?

Hello everyone,
I was able to answer all my questions myself. This year's Aachen Motor Colloquium was very informative.
The Blue Motion engine features a VTG turbocharger with an adjustable geometry turbine (AGT), a larger EGR cooler, a modified oil separator, a friction-optimized block, a revised head gasket, and already incorporates the 1.5 PD technology with 2200 bar injection pressure, along with adjusted software settings. I'd call that going above and beyond.
Compression ratio: 18.5:1, torque: 195 Nm from 1800-2200 RPM - all the information online is incorrect.
The fuel consumption: Impressive. Normal driving in highway/city/rural areas averages around 4.2 liters, and it almost never exceeds 5 liters. At a constant speed of 170 km/h (GPS), the actual consumption is 6.0 liters, which no other VW achieves - regardless of what you might say.
Hard to believe.
Greetings.

Why is that wrong? Volkswagen actually says exactly that – even on the internet.
Ah... you probably meant those other forums and joke websites.
Thank you for the information.

I doubt that will remain an extra feature, as it would be far too expensive.
I expect that this engine will be available in the next generation of the Polo.
That makes sense.

Greetings
'Yes, it's actually quite impressive, especially considering that no major 'miracles' have been achieved mechanically. The data should be compared to the standard 1.4 TDI engine. I'm curious to see how much it has been modified and whether any of the fuel-saving tuning techniques are present.'
@bafsche
According to theory (or at least, according to Volkswagen's consumption diagram), the Lupo 3L should consume less than 6 liters per 100km at 160 km/h. However, I haven't tested that myself. It couldn't quite reach 170 km/h .
If we now also consider the comparison of weight and size, it becomes clear that significant progress has been made in terms of efficiency in recent years.
Your 6.0-liter engine at 170 km/h is truly impressive.
Best regards, Jochen.
