Hi
every time when the engine was cold.
Do you, by any chance, know which sensors are in the 35i?
Regards, Rüdi.

Hi,
I don't, because I have a different car (or, more importantly: a newer engine), but you will definitely find the topic by using the search function; it has been discussed quite a few times.

Hello,
At the AFN, on the longitudinal side near the cooling water outlet, there is a plastic connection fitting. A combined temperature sensor is installed there. On the 35i, the yellow/red wire should go to the instrument cluster, and the brown/green wire should go to the control unit.
Greetings
Peter

Let's try something different,
I know that my AAZ Golf had already been preheated when I opened the door, and when I closed it again. Has sometimes also not had a long pre-heating period after turning on the ignition.
Is there also TDI?
Would explain why a TDI doesn't glow anymore (e.g., when getting in, fastening your seatbelt, turning on the ignition),

Hi,
no, a TDI doesn't need that, and it doesn't require it either, because it starts up normally even in "normal" weather without any preheating.

Hello
I just checked the temperature sensor G62, and at the current outdoor temperature of 2.5°C, it has a resistance value of 2.3 kiloohms.
Seems quite high, but perhaps someone knows the actual value for this temperature.
Thank you, Rudi.

Hi,
As JanB wrote earlier, the resistance value should increase at lower temperatures. If the specified target values are correct, you should be able to measure 5kOhm or more at 2.5°.
Does it still glow if you unplug it?

Hi
When unplugged, it glows for approximately 10-15 seconds.
If I use a 4.5 kOhm resistor in the circuit (I have 2 temperature sensors from my old car, connected in series and connected to the circuit), then it also starts to glow and starts immediately, approximately 10-15 seconds before.
Is the G62 over?
Best regards, Rüdi

Hello,
then the built-in sensor is probably shorted.
Stick it back on; if you do, you'll get the old problem back, and then it's broken.
Alternatively, I would measure the cold resistance.
Best regards, Günther

Hello
Plug it back in, and the light will no longer glow, or rather, the light stays on for about 1 second.
I guess I'll have to buy a new one.
Is it also available on the open market, or only for ~ 26 euros from "the friendly guy"?
Best regards, Rüdi

Hello Rudy,
Given the "warm" weather today, a value of 1s can certainly be normal -> using a diagnostic system / VAG-COM, it is possible to check the temperature values for plausibility. Otherwise, ~30Eur (price for the part at my A3) to risk buying a new sensor.

Hello Rainer
Yesterday evening, when I tested, the temperature was around -2°C, so I think it should be glowing.
I ordered a sensor today, it won't cost me anything, and the company is doing well.
With VAG Com diagnosis, nothing works, I still need a laptop, but that will be the next investment (you need one for a TDI).
First, thank you. I'll get back to you when I know if the cart is working again.
Best regards, Rüdi

Otherwise, I risk spending around €30 (the price of the part at my A3) on a new sensor.
30€? Für diesen Preis lohnt es sich doch, das defekte Teil aufzusägen und mit Gießharz einen Heißleiter für 30ct einzukleben.

Hello,
Use a digital multimeter costing 6 euros from the hardware store to measure the resistance and then decide!

Hi
I installed the new temperature sensor yesterday evening, and this morning, at around 3°C, it started to glow properly (the interior lighting also became dimmer) and started up as expected for a TDI.
Thank you for your help.
Best regards, Rüdi
