Hi,

So, according to the information I have, the body composition measurements seem quite accurate; I've checked them multiple times.
And during a highway drive at the specified speed, it showed an average fuel consumption of 3.7 liters (with the air conditioning off).
In my area, the highways are quite empty and not very hilly, which also plays a crucial role.
Furthermore, it's important not to depress the clutch pedal when going downhill. This also saves a bit of fuel.
If I had a cruise control system, I could further reduce fuel consumption.

Best regards, Rodion.

Hello,
Most people drive it and get a fuel consumption of 5.5 liters per 100 kilometers.

I've also looked at the 5.5-liter option and I think it would be a good choice. However, the 3.6 or 3.7 liter engines seem really underpowered... we have mountains here... I can only say that my car isn't capable of handling that.

Hi,

I also wrote that I average about 5.5 liters per [unit of measurement - e.g., 100 kilometers].
But if you're really driving slowly, at speeds of 90-110 km/h, then it's possible to achieve less than 4 liters per 100 kilometers.

Okay, let's lower the car, add some wind-tunnel optimized spoilers, lower the suspension, and reduce weight, and there you have it...

Best regards, Rodion.

Oh, an oxymoron.

to spoil: to ruin, plunder, damage.

Okay, please provide the German text you would like me to translate into English. I will only provide the translation.

Hello,

It's great that you were paying close attention during the German and English lessons.
This is less relevant here, though...

The fact is that a combination of lowering and aerodynamic skirts...
(Hopefully, that word works for you? I mean, not the textiles used for shawls or scarves...)
It can achieve a reduction in the aerodynamic drag coefficient (cW) and thus reduce fuel consumption.
A good example of this is the W201 series car and the 16V version.

Best regards, Rodion.

Okay, let me help you. A Scenic is like a boxy car, similar to a Touran... so, what exactly do you want to attach to it to make it more aerodynamic? Although, with a 3.6-liter engine, that's already quite impressive.

Hi,

The ASV-Ibiza can do something similar too... Sometime in the summer before last, during a football game or something like that when the city highway was empty, I drove from Britz to Tegel (about 25 km) without air conditioning and using cruise control the entire time. I didn't brake or accelerate at all, just kept the cruise control at around 90 km/h (the speedometer showed a little more), and ended up with an average fuel consumption of 3.8 liters.

"However, I think it's unrealistic to optimize for that. In most cases, you have to accelerate, and even then, the Ibiza's 1.2 tons contribute to increased fuel consumption. Normally, with sensible driving, you can expect around 5 liters per 100 kilometers. If you occasionally drive at higher speeds on the highway, 6 liters over the long term isn't bad either (I haven't updated my fuel consumption tracker in a while)."

I'm just afraid that the aforementioned project will simply end up being a fuel-efficient car designed for constant low speeds.

"3 liters at a constant speed of around 90 should be achievable with the right tires and some adjustments to the engine control unit in most TDIs, especially in smaller cars. Compared to my previous value, the difference isn't that significant anymore - simply switching to low-rolling-resistance tires instead of the 185 Conti tires I was using could make a noticeable improvement."

Best regards,

Jan.

Hi,

Quote:

50 horsepower, 1.0 liter engine, approximately 900 kg weight.

That's the small gasoline engine in the Lupo, where you basically only use the accelerator pedal to change the engine noise. No wonder it drinks so much fuel – in my opinion (I drove a similar engine in an Arosa twice for about 10 km each time), it's one of the worst engines VW has ever built. Even the old 1.05-liter engine with 45 hp was more agile in the Polo 6N.

Best regards,

Jan.

.

even though it's off-topic... yep, that's him (it was an emergency purchase and not the desired car/engine icon_wink.gif).
If you press the accelerator pedal too hard in that specific LL model, the RPM gauge moves as quickly as the speedometer in other cars when they are in third gear icon_sad.gif.

Is that the thing with a front-mounted camshaft and an overhead cam?
I think it's totally brilliant that VW has an overhead camshaft in a small car. Is there anywhere else where you can find this? icon_cool.gif

The AHT has a lower camshaft... I drive the ALL with an overhead camshaft and respectable 86 Nm of torque icon_lol.gif.

Hello everyone,

back to the topic again:

Today, the first part of the 10-part series aired. Unfortunately, I missed it and can only access the data from NetPräsent, which is available here: [link].

http://www.vox.de/28379_41954.php

As mentioned before, the main focus here is on reducing the vehicle's weight.
The desired weight is under 1000 kg!
The base version of the G V with 105 hp has a listed weight of 1251 kg.
Therefore, the goal is to save over 250 kg (!).

The main focus is on reducing weight in the body and chassis, but efforts are also being made to save weight in the engine.
When I think about the amount of effort Volkswagen put into reducing the weight of the 3-liter Lupo, I remember that they only managed to save 'just' 150 kg.

Therefore, this new golf will inevitably become an extremely expensive platform for technology, and my hope of incorporating some of its ideas into my Leon at a reasonable price is likely to be dashed.
I'm not going to invest thousands of euros just to save maybe 1.5 euros per 100 kilometers.

But let's wait and see.

Best regards, Jochen.

I saw it icon_cool.gif.

It's a used 1.9-liter engine with 90 horsepower and approximately 50,000 kilometers on the odometer.

The BMW 5 Series weighed in at 1360 kg on the TÜV scale.

(by the way: e.g., driver's door weighs 32 kg, rear doors weigh 24 kg each...)

and my hope that I could incorporate a few ideas affordably into my Leon will probably be dashed.

Most likely, this will be the case when you find out that they don't just want to save on the engine, but actually want to install a completely smaller engine icon_rolleyes.gif.
