Hello Rainer,

I'm on your side with that. The garbage from 'my box is better than...' isn't worth the transferred bytes. The probability that someone who writes such nonsense will ever contribute anything productive is zero.
To those who need such comments to boost their self-esteem: 'You are harassing others who are genuinely trying to work on these topics!'

Why isn't there a separate forum specifically for tuning questions? Then people could really let loose and explore those topics icon_lol.gif!

Hi!

There are countless online forums dedicated to car tuning. Here, discussions about performance enhancements are also conducted in a factual and detailed manner. The emphasis is on the word "factual"!!
It would be nice if the "prolos" would go to other forums and leave us in peace.

Best regards,
Uwe

Post28-12-2002, 17:12    Subject: Re: RPM? Quote

Hello!

What is the rated speed, or maximum power, at approximately 2900 RPM??? According to the diagram, the power is significantly reduced at this speed.

Okay, so the maximum torque is achieved at 1360 RPM, and the maximum power is achieved at 2900 RPM.

So, the performance was also about 40% too low, which should confirm Ulf's suspicion that the wrong gear ratio was used. Maybe the gearbox from the gasoline engine was installed. In any case, the gear ratio was calculated incorrectly. (Or maybe it was all a joke - sorry.)

Best regards, Ernst.

Did I say anything unprofessional or unsophisticated in my post 'Performance increase 96kW'? I don't think that's something you can accuse me of! And why was I (and the rest of the forum) then told that I shouldn't be doing any (hidden) advertising?

OK, Rainer likely has the final say here due to his admin role, but why isn't there a clear list (similar to a code of conduct) that everyone can refer to in order to understand whether they are behaving appropriately, especially when asking questions about technical details, such as the maximum torque at 2700 RPM, as I did?

who was truly astonished.

Hello everyone,
I find this forum very well designed, and especially appreciate that it's structured in a way that everyone can understand.

So, if my questions have annoyed some people, that was definitely not my intention. Before I make any changes, I'd like to get advice from people who have experience with it.

Conclusion: Great forum.

Hmmm, I don't think that was meant to be taken so literally...

Uwe

Yes, keep it up!

Anyone who stands out in a negative way will be removed. Great!
great forum. icon_rolleyes.gif

I find some of Rainer's comments to be a bit too harsh.
The posts regarding the torque question for 96kW engines, etc., are factually correct and appropriate. It was absolutely not advertising or 'praise,' but only a brief mention of the chip manufacturer. To make such a fuss about it is more than ridiculous. icon_confused.gif
This used to be a great forum, but it's slowly declining.
It's less about the posts of individual users, and more about the inappropriate censorship and comments on certain topics. icon_cry.gif

If questions about tuning are not welcome here, that should be stated. icon_exclaim.gif

@stefan:

You can be sure that I carefully check what people have written before I call them stupid. It's actually quite simple; you just click on the user's profile and look at their previous posts.

It's not a bug, it's a feature icon_mrgreen.gif.
That's exactly what I see as a positive aspect compared to many other forums, and Albrecht and AndyO have already made very insightful comments about it.

Hi Stefan,

"Great" and "degraded" are highly subjective descriptions.

I still enjoy being here because I appreciate the quality.
And personally, I believe that Rainer, through his "interventions," prevents the forum from sliding into the usual level of "oh yeah, look at me" self-importance and empty chatter.
That would mean, for me, "letting the forum decline".

Okay, I can definitely understand Michael, Stefan, and the others' frustration; I've also received some dumb and unhelpful answers here!

I don't know of any other forum that even comes close to matching this one in that regard.

It wouldn't surprise me if my account gets deleted or something like that.
Well, whatever, thankfully it's not my forum.

Best regards,
Ingo

Hi,

Here's my two cents:

The 'Diesel Schrauber' forum offers a refreshing alternative to the countless car, engine, and tuning forums that already exist.
I don't see the distinction between this and something with a more sophisticated level as arrogant or pretentious. Rather, it's about filling a meaningful niche.
Depending on the type and topic of the discussion needed, anyone can freely turn to the appropriate forum.
If a question or discussion doesn't fit dieselschrauber.de, it's simple: at the top of the browser, there's a bar where you can type in addresses of other forums! icon_wink.gif icon_idea.gif

But:
@Rainer:
Sometimes I find your word choice – when you're in 'grumpy mode' – to be excessive (though, as someone not directly affected, I also find it amusing).
Especially since you emphasize the importance of using appropriate language in the terms of service.

Hi Ingo,

I don't know when you started getting those silly/stupid answers.

But if someone just talks nonsense or asks questions that clearly demonstrate a lack of basic knowledge, or questions that have already been addressed numerous times (in the forum or in articles),
- Then, I will readily grant Rainer, as the "host," the right to give those people a clear indication.

While one might argue about the specific wording in certain cases, nobody is perfect.
Furthermore, I don't get the impression that users are routinely deleted for their first offense, or that Rainer is vindictive towards people who comply with the "house rules" after receiving a warning.

Do you know of any other "more relaxed" forums that can match this one in terms of quality and level?
