Wouldn't that be worth mentioning in a diagnostic article (if you get the chance)? |
Hi Ulf, I quickly wrote it in.
Best regards, Rainer. |

If you're already at it, could you please also include changes to `char_int` and `kw2_delay`? In my opinion, these are more important than `blk_int`, because `blk_int` only controls the read rate of the individual measurement groups. In other words, by changing this time, you can influence the number of measurement blocks read from the control unit per time interval. Meanwhile, `char_int` and `kw2_delay` affect the synchronization and internal timing of VAG-COM.
Regarding the general settings for `char_int` and `k2_delay`, I would like to add the following: Lowering these two values can improve performance on slower computers (like my 486), while increasing them may help on faster systems! |

What about "kw2_delay"? It's supposed to only apply to the kw2000 protocol used by newer engine control units, so it wouldn't be relevant for a 1993 model. Or is there still a bug in the VAG-Com software? Gruß Christian

@christians:
No, the kw2_delay refers to something other than the kw2000 protocol.
This is the parameter kp2_zeit! |

@joergs:
It seems my last problem also cannot be solved: I wanted to log Block 000 during the ride. However, Mr. Milewski from DRV wrote to me that logging the 000th block is not possible. Too bad.
I can't read the other blocks, and occasionally the connection drops with the error message: 'Cannot find field 000.' The field is being read again, and it's back... |

Hello everyone,
I've already worked my way through your excellent forum, received many helpful tips, and learned a few things along the way.
At the Essen motor show, I purchased the 208.2 VAG-Com from DRV, along with the corresponding K-Line cable, and I also experienced significant problems accessing certain control units on my laptop (Toshiba Libretto).
The error message usually appeared as 'Unable to synchronize baud rate' or 'No response from the control unit.' Some control units were working perfectly, while others were completely non-functional (ABS and radio in the 2001 New Beetle).
Today, I had the opportunity to try VAG-Com on a different laptop (an HP Omnibook), and lo and behold, even the control units that wouldn't work with the Toshiba could be read without any problems on the same vehicle, using the standard settings.
Therefore, my tip to you is to try out different hardware whenever possible!
Perhaps these solutions can also help you solve your problems!
Good luck.
