Hi,

So, we removed each glow plug individually and checked them. They all start to glow orange-red at the tip (about 1 cm) in roughly the same amount of time (about 5 seconds). So, it's probably not the glow plugs.
What I still need to check is whether all the lights are actually receiving power.
Does anyone know which of the fuses (the ones located directly above the battery) is for the glow plug system?
Surely, one could repurpose this fuse as a shunt resistor for current measurement, right?
If the candles are cold, and I measure a voltage drop (a few millivolts) when only one candle is connected, then the voltage drop should be approximately four times higher when all the candles are connected.
Can anyone tell me how long the afterglow phase lasts if the engine is then allowed to idle?

Regards,

Eike.

Hi Eike,

With a little luck, you might find something in the operating manual icon_wink.gif. I believe the ALH Ibiza has 50 A.

Yes, but only with a multimeter that has a millivolt measurement range.

Correct, in the initial moment after turning on the ignition.
It probably won't achieve quite four times the brightness of a single candle, because the battery will likely degrade more quickly under the heavier load.
I would consider anything above 3.5x to be acceptable.

It depends on the engine code. For my AFN engine, it's estimated to take about 90 seconds, while for my wife's ALH engine, it's estimated to take 3-4 minutes.
