Yes, that's actually correct.
Mapo is a lubricant dealer, so it's difficult to say who the actual manufacturer is. http://www.mapo.at/produkte/mapo/mapo_0.php

Oops!

Well, I've certainly gotten myself into something now.

Okay, getting back to the topic of this thread, I hope I've understood correctly that I can use Mobil 1 ESP Formula 5W30, specifically the 507.00 specification, in both my AWX engine with longlife service intervals (extended maintenance interval!), but without a DPF, and my BKD engine with longlife service intervals and an aftermarket DPF.

(I extracted this from the datasheet posted above!)

Thank you. You calmed me down.

If both engines are longlife engines, then you can safely use a 'VW507.00' oil.
The 507.00 is sometimes a bit more expensive, depending on the circumstances.
Well, it would be good if the service interval was reset to the "longlife" setting.
It depends on who will be doing the next oil change.

For engines without a Wiv (wastegate valve), I would only use a 505.01. This oil is often cheaper than a 507.00 oil, and there are no disadvantages or concerns about which oil brand would be compatible with a 507.00 specification.
It should also be mentioned: the information provided by oil manufacturers, for example. Liqui Moly,
They are often just recommendations!
This information is based on careful research and can be considered reliable, however, it can only be provided as non-binding advice.
There's nowhere to be found in writing from VW that states that every 507.00 goes towards a 505.01 vehicle manufactured between 1999 and 2001, or something similar.
The exceptions are made for the oil companies that don't want to take any risks.
That's where mobile solutions come in. Shell...
It's no coincidence that an oil with the 505.01 specification is still being produced and sold today.
Selbt Mobil has released a new and improved 505.01 product, which replaces the MOBIL Syst S special V 5W-30. MOBIL Super 3000 XE 5W-30.
This means that the demand for 505.01 oils still exists, despite the LL3 507.00 oil standard.

Thank you! Both vehicles are exclusively supplied with power in the longlife mode;).

Then leave everything as it is. Stick with the 507.00 LL3.

I came across a discussion on the T5 forum about the correct oil for TDI engines without a DPF.

VW apparently realized after about 4 years that, for example, the R5-TDI engines produced before 2006 were incorrectly recommended to use oil that meets specification 507 00.
However, according to the latest information, this oil is only approved for DPF-equipped vehicles manufactured from 2006 onwards.

I'm now concerned that the oil I'm using in my Touran (2.0 TDI BKD with an aftermarket DPF) and my DPF-less 1.9 TDI AWX might be the wrong type (I'm using LL3 5W30 in both).

Who is knowledgeable and can shed light on the current discussions?

Hello,

I'd like to chime in on that as well.

First, it is not correct to say that VW "only noticed it after 4 years," because in all the oil specification sheets I am familiar with, the R5 PD and the V10 TDI PD were always excluded from the LL3 specification. This can be found, among other places, in the list by Manfred Borgwardt (as of February 16, 2005). Scroll down to point 3. The error was subsequently made by the respective workshops that filled the 50700 into these engines, and in doing so, they treated everything in the same way.

50700 is definitely the correct postal code for your two vehicles.

The reason why LL3 oil cannot be used in the R5 TDI PD engine has nothing to do with the DPF.
The HTHS value for shear stability is too low for this engine, as well as for the V10 TDI.

It's just that the
LL2 oils, after meeting the 50601 standard, had a reduced HTHS <3> 3.5 for the

I don't know the exact reason for the 50601 error code in the two engines mentioned either.
Bertil mentioned in this thread that it might be related to their front-wheel drive system.

Think about the differences between the R5/V10 TDI and the 4-cylinder TDI. Pay particular attention to the NW drive system! Then you should understand why older R5/V10 TDIs cannot handle the http://www.beetle24.de/tec_wissen/longlife/index.htm 50700 specification.
Okay, I understand. Please provide the German text you want me to translate into English. I will only provide the translation.

They probably realized the situation and didn't use a 505.01 specification oil in a 5W-30 viscosity grade.

Ravenol has also been a participant since October 2009!
Here's a new PAO oil with the specification 505.01, in a viscosity of 5W-40.
RAVENOL Fully Synthetic Multi-Grade Oil VMO SAE 5W-40.
RAVENOL VMO SAE 5W-40 has been proven in practice and tested in engines with the following specifications:
API SM/CF,
ACEA A3/B4/C3
Approvals:

MB approval MB 229.31
VW 502 00

VW 505 00
VW 505 01

Price: 29.95 for 5 liters.

Even though it's supposed to be the case that the 507.00 will replace the 505.01...
Oil manufacturers are still using the 505.01 specification in 5W-40 oil... is this perhaps a new trend?
505.01 in 5w-40 for DPF.
Note: Ravenol is a full synthetic oil and costs 5.99 per liter... simply awesome.
Why do oil manufacturers still apply for the 505.01 oil standard when 507.00 covers everything? Shouldn't it be a product that's becoming obsolete?

It seems like Ravenol might also be planning to offer an oil specifically for older 3-4 cylinder common rail engines without a DPF, but with an aftermarket DPF installed.
Revenol is likely compatible with vehicles that have a fuel system starting from model 507.00, but not with those that have a fuel system model 505.01.
Ravenol LL3 now also has several exceptions.

Okay, marketing people are still making typos.

RAVENOL WIV LONGLIFE III 5W-30 can also be used in engines with the following specifications:
VW 500 00 / 502 00 / 505 00 / 503 01
VW 503 00 / 506 00 + 501 01 icon_eek.gif/ 506 01 (see exceptions)

Attention: Exceptions apply.
Applicable in all VW engines except: 3- and 4-cylinder pump-injector engines withhttp://www.ravenol-shop.de/epages/61107442.sf/de_DE/?ObjectPath=/Shops/61107442/Products/1018/SubProducts/1018-5L longlife service, as well as R5 and V10 TDI pump-injector engines (e.g., in Phaeton and Touareg) with and without longlife service.
With by without replacing with. Okay, I'm ready.
No risk, no fun? 507.00 to 505.01.

According to ADAC, as of October 9th.
http://www1.adac.de/images/25710_tcm8-261631.pdf
This can be found in the VW standards listed in the table.
no longer valid, replaced by 50400.
obsolete, replaced by 50400.
Not current; replaced by 50700.
obsolete, replaced by 50700.

505.01 remains a current oil standard and will not be replaced by anything.

Hello,

Okay, I found the following description (excerpt) for the Ravenol HP.
I think that confirms what I've said about LLIII so far.

Instructions for use:
RAVENOL WIV LONGLIFE III 5W-30 can be used in all VW vehicles (except R5 and V10 TDI pump-injector engines with and without DPF, e.g., in Phaeton and Touareg), with or without Longlife service. RAVENOL WIV LONGLIFE III 5W-30 can also be used in engines with the following specifications:

VW 504 00 (for gasoline engines) is equivalent to the specifications VW 501 01, VW 502 00, VW 503 00, VW 503 01, and VW 505 01.
VW 507 00 (for diesel engines) is equivalent to the specifications VW 505 00, VW 505 01, VW 506 00, and VW 506 01 (see exceptions!).

RAVENOL WIV LONGLIFE III 5W-30 is not suitable for vehicles requiring the VW 506 01 specification for:

Engines with LongLife Service (QG1): Diesel engines (R5, V10 TDI pump-injector) with and without DPF.
Engines without LongLife service: R5 and V10 TDI pump-injector engines, with and without DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter). For this, we recommend RAVENOL WIV 0W-30 Longlife II with the specification VW 503 00 / 506 00 / 506 01 .

'This replaces or supersedes 504.00/507.00, or includes all previous VW standards (with the exception of R5/V10 TDI).' It is clear that a vehicle without a waste oil injection system (WIV) still needs to adhere to its fixed oil change intervals (15,000 km) even when using LLIII oil, and these intervals cannot be extended.

Yes, that's been known since LL3, but some people simply refuse to acknowledge it.

Perhaps one day Bertil will reveal the secret as to why the gear mechanism of the 5 and 10 series PDs is not allowed to have that feature.
