Okay, I'm assuming it's being promoted because the error doesn't always occur; it only happens after a longer period of inactivity and with larger temperature changes. VAG (Volkswagen Group) says nothing about the pump, and when it does run, it seems to work fine. So, how can I test the pump?

Are you absolutely sure it's not the immobilizer that's "turning off" the engine?
Does the immobilizer light flash if the engine has stalled?
If you want to restart it, does it make a meaningless noise or does it start up and then immediately shut off again? A4 Avant 2,5 tdi 110kw; AFB; BJ2000

Compare the coolant temperatures displayed in modules STG01 and STG17 (combination instrument). These are the two temperature readings from the dual sensor.
It would be interesting to know if on a given day, when there are with startup problems, both values are the same... Gruß

"It's not the fuse; the light goes out and stays off. Okay, let's see. Today it turned on again, so I'll test it again with the temperature sensors."
Just to let you know, when I turn the key to start the engine and hold it for a longer time, it takes about 10 seconds before it starts (if I don't hold it longer, it would shut off again).

Disconnect the temperature sensor and try starting it again. If it starts properly then, you've found the problem.
If that's not the case, as previously mentioned, there might be air in the fuel system that slowly escapes. Is your car parked horizontally or on a slope? If it's on a slope, turn it so the engine compartment is facing downhill. If it starts then, there's likely a leak in the fuel supply.
The last possibility would then be a problem with the ignition switch. A4 Avant 2,5 tdi 110kw; AFB; BJ2000

I also had the idea about using a ramp here in Berlin. I have it standing on a slight incline right now, and when it's tilted like that, it starts up in the morning regardless of whether the front is facing upwards or downwards. Where can I find the sensor that I need to disconnect? Are they the three sensors next to each other on the left side of the engine, or the G62 sensor at the back of the engine?

I just noticed that the intake air temperature is at 25.2 degrees Celsius, even though it's only 11 degrees outside. Could this be related?

I think so too. That's why it would still start normally without any problems... A4 Avant 2,5 tdi 110kw; AFB; BJ2000

Okay, the temperature sensor (g62) has been replaced, but the problems with the fuel pump persist. Does anyone have any further input or ideas?

Hello,
I'm not very familiar with PD engines, but is the "Realis 109" issue still a problem in these vehicles?
Does the control unit receive a reliable power supply?
Is the CAN high and low connection between the ECU (Engine Control Unit) and the transmission intact?
Best regards.

The problem has been found: the fuel injector in the fourth cylinder is defective and is drawing in air when the engine is idling. Thank you everyone for your help!
