Hello everyone,
I've been driving a rental car from the dealership since the beginning of the month because my B8 isn't ready yet. It's also a manual transmission TDI with 150 horsepower and has 14,000 km on it, and it drives really well. According to the display, the fuel consumption is between 4.8 and 7.3 liters per 100 km, depending on how I drive. Today, driving back from Frankfurt, it was mostly smooth sailing, often at 180 km/h (just under 3,000 rpm), or sometimes 140 km/h when someone pulled out of the lane, or briefly 100 km/h due to road construction.
I have a ScanGauge II connected, and the displayed values initially seem okay (WOT 2430 mbar, 90-92°C water temperature, 12.8-14.7V charging voltage, etc.).
At 21°C ambient temperature, the intake air never exceeded 25°C on the highway. I find that hard to believe!
Spinnt da die Anzeige oder ist das tatsächlich wahr? What do you think?

Hello.
"Can anyone describe how to remove the engine cover on a 2.0L TDI? Is it completely clipped in place? I don't see any (hidden) screws, like on the AVB."
You're welcome, haithamina.

At the CBBB, it's definitely inserted into three points, just like it was at the ASZ.

Okay, thanks, I'll see what I can do to get rid of it...
And now the oil filter is mounted upside down? I could only find a diagram of a SEAT. It showed a drain plug in the "cover" that was located on the intake side of the upright oil filter housing, and it was fastened with a type of multi-tooth tool. Do I need such a special tool again, or can everything be done with a socket wrench?
So far, I haven't been able to locate the oil filter housing just by looking into the engine compartment. It must be located somewhere towards the radiator, right?

Simply move it with a bit of feeling, and you'll notice where it has fixed points. Then, pull upwards firmly at those points. I checked again, and on the EA288, there are 4 fixed points, each located at the corners.

You'll also see the filter. It's now located under the oil cooler. First, you need to unclip the generator cable and disconnect the connector for the after-run pump. There's a separate drain plug for emptying it (5 Nm). After draining, the filter cover (25 Nm) can be opened with a 32 mm wrench.

Thank you very much!
My search today led me to Etzold and his Golf band. In it, you can clearly see what you described regarding the oil filter.

Does it also specify which tool is needed to open this bleed screw?
I couldn't find anything about that...

Sorry, Roger, I just saw your message now about the tools.
That's just a big nut, nothing more.
It's solved in a dumber way than it was in the 3BG.

To complement this:
The photo above shows a view from below into the engine compartment. You can see a disconnected connector for the temperature sensor. In the lower part of the image, you can see the fan and the front of the vehicle.
When changing the oil filter, you first need to unscrew the inner screw of the oil filter cover (using a wrench). This will release a significant amount of oil (the entire contents of the oil filter housing), which hopefully lands in the prepared bucket placed between the fan, the air intake hose, and the engine block.
Only then can the oil filter cover (using a large wrench) be unscrewed, and the leaking oil filter can be carefully lowered.
Attached below are two more pictures.

Hi there,
There is a recall campaign (ID: 23S3 S) dated February 4, 2016, which involves reprogramming the engine control unit to address crystal formation in the coolant system.
"That's very unfunny; Volkswagen explicitly advertises that the new LLK [likely referring to a cooling system component] and low-temperature water circuit are designed to prevent exactly that!"
I'm curious to see how they plan to handle the software aspect. Does anyone have any information or an idea about that?
Is it really that simple to increase the operating temperature of the LLT (perhaps in winter)? So far, it has actually been consistently 3-5°C higher than the ambient temperature, even in summer.

Hello,

The operation of the intercooling system in the EA288 engine is described in SSP 514: Coolant circuit for intercooling (low-temperature circuit), control of intercooler temperature.
The control parameter for the closed-loop system is the intake air temperature after the intercooler.

The intercooler pump V188 is controlled by the engine control unit (ECU) as needed, and according to current service information (SSP), it does not operate at all when the charge air temperature is below the target value.
If ice formation were to occur in the low-temperature coolant (LLC) and under these environmental conditions, it could be relatively easily resolved by controlling the V188 valve.
The engine will then take a little longer to warm up, but the intake air won't get "too cold."

Best regards, Rainer.

Okay.
Okay, so basically as expected. Let's see what I notice after the update (if they actually push it out to my device).
Am I seeing that on the car scan?
