We've been using brake cleaner instead of Startpilot for a long time.

It's 100% guaranteed and is especially ALWAYS available in box quantities .

My mechanic's opinion is that starting fluid damages the glow plugs. Since he started using brake cleaner to start hard-to-start engines, he hasn't had any glow plugs fail a few weeks after being jump-started...
