I'm having this problem (Golf IV, AXR TDI PD) where it makes a strange hissing/gurgling sound when I release the accelerator.

What's the problem with that?
Mine has been doing that since day one.
Somewhere, the excess boost pressure that's no longer needed has to go, and that's why the air makes those noises.

The AXR is the problem icon_lol.gif.

No, seriously. So, I've had the car for about 7 months now, and this noise wasn't there before. It's not that typical 'hissing' sound, but sometimes it sounds like the engine is about to stall. The turbo was replaced 2 weeks ago, and tomorrow I'm going to take a look at the boost valve (is that the solenoid valve that Dieselmartin marked in the picture?). I might even replace it.

Does anyone know how much it costs?

Best regards,
VipViper2000

P.S.: Ah, I just checked out your signature. You have one of those too. Sorry, but after only 6-7 months, this car has already caused me so much trouble that sometimes I wish I had my old III model back.

I can only agree. The sound of a VTG loader sometimes... well, it's simply brilliant. icon_twisted.gif

Okay, then go search for my "AXR disasters" in the forum. I doubt you'll be able to add much to that.
Das Forum hat Monatelang mit mir Mitgelitten ... "Thank you!"

Sometimes I get annoyed that I haven't repaired my 1Z, but when I have the camper trailer attached... it's just brilliant.

I've finally gotten rid of that persistent problem, and the car is just a joy to drive now.

And what do you have to say now about the boost control valve?

'Is that the part in the picture, and how much does it cost? Or could that be the cause? I could record the noise, but I'm too lazy...'

Hello.
Regarding the question of how much the control valve costs:
Part number for 1Z: 028 906 283 F.
29.56 euros net.

The conversion process was relatively straightforward for my 1Z 35i, even though...
A socket wrench with a 10mm socket fell behind the power brake booster icon_twisted.gif, and as a result, I needed a bit more time to complete the replacement icon_smile.gif icon_redface.gif.

But the success was immediately apparent on the first ride after the change icon_smile.gif, which also made up for the bent fingers *grins*.

Ich möchte hier noch mal meinen DANK loswerden! Keep up the good work, everyone!

and here's another picture showing the installation position for the 35i 1Z.

and just to be safe:
It's not the little black dress icon_smile.gif.

Here, I removed the intake hose from the mass airflow sensor (MAF) to get a better view, otherwise you can't see anything here *lol*.

I hope I was able to help icon_smile.gif.

Thank you for the pictures. I think I'll just look for it tomorrow; it's bound to be somewhere icon_wink.gif.
'Because it seems like in your case, it's located more towards the upper right of the engine compartment, while in the one you mentioned, which was a Galaxy, it was located on the left side of the engine compartment. Does anyone have any tips on where it might be located in a G4?'

Hi.
I think you should just look for the golden valve. The head of the spare parts department at my VW dealership even had one in stock.
From that, I infer that the defect is known and occurs frequently icon_evil.gif.

Good luck.
Bye.

Okay, thank you very much for the quick and extensive help! Maybe I can install the part to test it, and if it's not the problem, I can return it. icon_rolleyes.gif
