Regarding the cruise control and lack of feedback:

Besides acoustics, if available, the power consumption display is a good indicator when you know what the maximum consumption looks like for each individual circuit.

For example, with the ASV engine, you can achieve fuel consumption of no more than 14 liters per 100 km in 5th gear, and that over a very wide RPM range (the maximum is around 2000 RPM at 14 liters, and it decreases to about 13 liters as you increase the RPM – at least in the Ibiza).

The connection is clear because within a gear, the speed and velocity are linearly related. This means that the number of injections per kilometer is constant, and therefore the maximum amount injected is also constant (excluding any Russ limitation).

Full load at 5th gear means an instantaneous fuel consumption of 13...14 liters - and that's how much the cruise control needs to "accelerate."

By the way, yesterday I experienced something for the first time: it almost couldn't make it up a highway hill – going uphill at 100 km/h in 5th gear with a trailer attached, the speed dropped by about 4 km/h while the display showed 13.9 liters being consumed.

By the way: The high mileage of diesel vehicles is mainly due to the lower engine speeds. This results in a relatively low piston speed in relation to the distance traveled. The same applies to the entire valve train and all other components.

So, just keep driving your diesel as described and let the others waste their gasoline.
