Da hätte ich von deinem mehr erwartet.

Hi Bertil,

In the context of speed measurement, it's not just about weight and time; the conversion from revolutions per minute (rpm) to kilometers per hour (km/h) is the most important factor.
What does the speed look like in your case, ranging from 2000 to 4000 rpm, or what is the actual 2000 rpm speed (without accounting for slippage)?
Gruß Ulf

Hello Ulf,

I recently also took your DZR test, but since I don't have Climatronic or MFA, I can only estimate the speedometer reading at 2000 rpm, and for me, it's approximately 53-54 km/h.

The average result of several tests on two different tracks was 6.55 seconds.

I have a basic 3-door model with a weight of 1285 kg according to the registration document. I weigh 72 kg, and the fuel tank was half full. The car has the following features: electric windows, electric mirrors, air conditioning, rain-sensing wipers, and a tow hitch. The tires are currently 195/65/R15 Continental TS790 tires on steel rims.

Wäre total nett wenn Du mir die Tabelle anhand der obigen Angaben anpassen könntest, ich versuche mal sie dir per PN zu schicken. icon_wink.gif

The car didn't perform very well initially (for the first 8,000 km). Since around 20,000 km, I've experienced consistent performance and fuel consumption figures. Unfortunately, my average fuel consumption is still about 0.5 liters higher than what I experienced with other VP-TDI models I've driven.

My top speed, as indicated by the speedometer, is between 197 and 205 km/h, depending on the conditions.

Da ich einige PD´s und andere DI´s eingefahren habe, bin ich mir sicher das bei deinem nach der Einfahrphase noch mehr kommt. icon_razz.gif

Greetings, Marcus.

Post29-02-2004, 15:37    Subject: Weight of Polo Golf 4 Quote

I just realized that there's hardly any weight difference between a Golf 4 and a Polo. Ulf's Polo weighs 1250kg, while Nuckelpinne_72's weighs 1285kg - both with air conditioning, electric windows, tow hitch, etc.
According to the documentation, the unladen weight of mine is 1340 kg (ASZ, 4-door, climate control, electric front windows, etc.).

Have you weighed your Polo, Ulf, or are there any other factors to consider when it comes to the unladen weight, or does the Polo simply have "heavy bones"?

Hi,

I have indicated the unladen weight according to the documentation. ESP, EFH (electric windows), E-mirror (electric mirror), central locking, and a full-size spare wheel were standard equipment for my model year, so they should be included in the unladen weight, right?

In addition to that, we would also have:
Air conditioner = 40 kg.
Tow hitch = 20 kg.
Radio = 10 kg
Comfort seats / Easy Entry, etc. = 5 kg.
(Rubber) floor mats = 2 kg.
GRA = 2 kg
Driver = 72 kg
Power: 151 kg.

Regarding the weight, here are some questions:
What is the weight of a liter of diesel fuel, and what operating fluids are included in the unladen weight specification?

Regarding the tire rolling circumference:
Does anyone know the rolling circumference of my Conti TS 790 tires (size 195/65/R15) that I use on my tractor for field, forest, and meadow work?

@Bertil: Could you please double-check with your electronic tools what the exact speed in km/h is at 2000 RPM?

I used a Siemens S45i mobile phone to time it, but I'll measure it again once I find a proper stopwatch.

Best regards, Marcus.

Hello,

Regarding the unladen weight: According to the catalog, the Golf 4 with a 74 kW engine has a fully fueled weight (without the driver) of 1210 - 1360 kg.
According to the documentation, the unladen weight including the driver should be specified, so for the Nuckelpinne, it would likely be "1285 kg to 1435 kg, depending on the equipment."

To calculate the combat weight, you should start with the minimum catalog weight and then add all known extras, the driver, and any other additional weight. If necessary, subtract the amount of missing fuel (a rough estimate is that 1 liter of diesel weighs approximately 0.7 kg - if anyone knows a more precise value, please correct me!).

According to the catalog, my Polo weighs 1155 kg when empty.
Including the spare tire instead of the puncture repair kit (net weight = approximately 14 kg), and with my other extras, the corrected unladen weight comes to approximately 1180 kg.
With the driver and a slightly expanded set of tools, the weight is approximately 1250 kg.

Kennt jemand den Abrollumfang meiner Feld-, Wald- und Wiesenbereifung Conti TS 790 ( 195/65/R15 ) ?

Enter the numbers into the "Geschw.Rechner" sheet, and it will write the standard rolling circumference into the corresponding row icon_wink.gif.

I just read some data about the new Volvo V50 with a 2.0-liter diesel engine, producing 136 horsepower and 320 Nm of torque.
It weighs almost 1500kg and has the same 0-100 km/h acceleration as your Polo. Are those 300kg only offset by different gear ratios during acceleration compared to the Polo?

Hi,

The 0-100 values are always influenced by the measurement conditions.
VAG (likely using a similar principle as the DZR) determines the time, as far as I know, using half the payload capacity. So, for a 96 kW Polo:
Unladen, without driver = 1155 kg.
ZGg = 1700 kg (!).
-> 0-100 weight = 1427 kg.

If the average between "unladen with driver" and "kerb weight" were taken, the weight for the 96 kW Polo would be 1465 kg (but I don't know if that's actually correct).

Then let Volvo determine the 0-100 km/h time based on the "empty with driver" configuration (speculation!), and then both cars would weigh almost the same. In this way, the similar catalog times could be explained (while the Polo, with a minimum weight of 1230 kg, theoretically comes to about 8.0 seconds). icon_twisted.gif

Diesel isn't quite that simple. Depending on the temperature, you can expect a density of 0.85 to 0.82 kg per liter.

How accurate are the scales used at landfills?
Sure, here's the translation:

'MFG' is an abbreviation for 'Mit freundlichen Grüßen,' which translates to 'Sincerely' or 'Best regards' in English.

They have to be very accurate (and calibrated) because the garbage collection fee is based on the weight.

I once asked our waste disposal company, and they said the tolerance is plus or minus 20 kg on the scale's final reading (20 tons), which results in a tolerance of 0.1%.

Don't worry about it. With only 460 km on the odometer, not even all of the breast milk has passed through the diesel filter yet icon_wink.gif.

Your ASZ (presumably referring to a specific vehicle or component) certainly hasn't reached its final performance yet. I would break it in much longer before testing any performance figures.

I also believe that winter diesel fuel doesn't really improve performance. While I can theoretically understand the performance-enhancing effect of cold outdoor temperatures, I've never actually experienced it in practice. All my cars have run slower during the winter so far.

So, a nice person from the TÜV (German technical inspection authority) let me weigh myself for free.

But maybe I'm just overplaying the "helpless student" role icon_rolleyes.gif.

The outside temperature reading on my car is fluctuating wildly, ranging from 2,000 to 4,000 RPM! This effect is particularly noticeable in engines with increased performance.

...I've had my Python Powerbox installed since the day before yesterday (www.python-tuning.com).
...the car is going like a bat out of hell!
....the DZR test with my Nokia 6510 (obviously, not very accurate) yielded an average of 5.2 seconds.
My car has a curb weight of 1,287 kg (including features like Climatronic, head airbags, metallic paint, and the standard, already extensive equipment of the Ibiza Sport).
....the engine is running perfectly, no misfires, no smoke, and the fuel consumption has decreased noticeably according to the onboard computer, especially when driving on the highway in 6th gear (I'm not sure exactly how much it has decreased).
.....I am very satisfied.....the fast Ibi has become a top performer!!
I was unable to test the top speed due to the narrow 195/55/15 winter tires.
The car now has exactly 5000 kilometers on the odometer.
