Hello,
I also want to add something. I've now driven 15,000 km with my new ZK engine after the camshaft failure. My AEL is running fantastically, incredibly simple, and brilliant.
Please review my previous posts on this topic. No one needs a multimeter for this. And the diagnosis via VAG1551 or VGACOM is actually only for a final check.
It is important to ensure 100.0% OT (Outer Timing) including the NW (Non-Working) side, with an adjustment scale. The timing belt tensioning is complete - PART I.
Rotate the ESP impeller until it reaches the marking, and then (this is the important part) rotate it another approximately 4mm – and you're done with part II! (4mm, I think – double-check that measurement, it was a great tip). Then, with VAG1551, you can essentially only confirm that everything is within the tolerance range of the ESP's adjustment capabilities.
Best regards, KAi.
