Hmm, the exposed engine doesn't really bother me in my car.
However, if I remove the felt lining under the hood, the engine noises become slightly louder and therefore more annoying...

I wouldn't exactly describe my ATD as quiet. It rattles and hums shamelessly. The AXR(?) in the Touran, on the other hand, behaves very smoothly. However, I only rev it up to 1000-1500 RPM. On the highway, things are more equal again. Even at 200 km/h, you can't hear the engine in the Skoda anymore once the radio is turned up to a normal volume. The VW is just a little bit louder.
