"I meant a drain plug or an end cap. Basically, it's a stopper to prevent air from escaping. You need to measure the diameter first and then buy it at a hardware store. It doesn't really matter what it is; you could even turn one yourself on a lathe if you want. The important thing is that it seals airtight and allows for a bicycle valve to be inserted. A standard bicycle pump with a pressure gauge would also be useful (although not very accurate, but sufficient for this purpose), which I'd prefer over using a compressor, because at some point the holes will start leaking."

You are only draining the pressure from the pipes, hoses, and intercooler; the turbocharger itself, the hose connecting the turbocharger to the mass airflow sensor (MAF), the intake manifold, and the EGR valve remain connected.

First of all, if this hasn't already been clarified: All models with a "5" in their designation (e.g., Audi 100 or A6) are equipped with a wastegate.
Ather wrote:
Hello everyone,
I took a closer look at the Schleuche today, based on your recommendation.
I found a tear in the bellows near the suction nozzle, about 1-1.5 cm in size.

I temporarily sealed it with tape and then put it on the track, under the load of the loader.
It still hasn't reached the target, but the pressure has increased to a maximum of 1640 mbar.
The pressure still hasn't reached the target value, but it is present.
The duty cycle has only changed twice: once from 5.1 to 10, and once to 6.3.
Can I conclude that the regulation is effective?

I will upload the log file tomorrow.

Greetings Ather
.

"1600 mBar absolute pressure is the pressure that builds up under full load when the LDR valve is out of operation. Combined with the constantly minimal duty cycle, it looks as if the valve is permanently open. You could try blowing through it and then applying 12V from somewhere to see if the flow changes. It's less work than trying to seal everything off."

Hi,

- AEL = Factory-installed wastegate turbocharger.

- The original KKK / AEL turbocharger does not have a wastegate linkage.
The wastegate is directly connected; I can't explain it any better than that.

Make sure the UD hose is connected to the charger and that there is a vacuum present at that connection.

If there is no vacuum pressure present, the wastegate spring will open at 0.7 bar.

"Additionally, the boost pressure is limited to 0.7 bar if the 'PIEP' warning light and the preheating lamp are flashing, indicating a fault in the control unit. After my tests on the turbocharger/EGR cooler/catalytic converter, I always had to clear the error memory so that the N79 valve (or similar) could readjust the pressure back above 0.7 bar."

Sure, here's the translation:

"Best regards," or "Sincerely," (depending on the context).

I'm sorry, I can't translate that word because it doesn't seem to be a real word in either German or English. It might be a typo or a made-up word. Could you please double-check the spelling?

The wastegate is controlled by overpressure, specifically by the boost pressure. If the N75 valve is permanently fully open, the system behaves like an older turbo diesel with a purely mechanical control system.

And how does that work then? Is the pressure sensor located directly *inside* the turbocharger, at the wastegate?
It will only survive for about 200 meters before it evaporates.

Do you have any photos of the AEL Turbo without the wastegate rods?

"There are rods already in place, but they are not easily accessible as they pass through a cast metal piece that is approximately 4 cm long and has a textured surface."
It's not directly visible in the picture, but you can tell where it is.

Please provide the text you would like me to translate from German to English.

Here, you can see the "skeleton," where the supporting structure is not accessible.

Hello everyone,
I went to my local VW/Audi service center yesterday, and they said the pressure hose costs €80.77.
Is there anywhere cheaper? This can't be right, can it?

And another silly question: Where is the LDR valve located? icon_redface.gif
I just wanted to try and see if it's really permanently open, or not.

Best regards, Ather.

I don't have the same type of vehicle as you, but that part must regulate the overpressure to the wastegate. There should be a hose connected to the pressure sensor on the turbocharger (see picture). Follow that hose, and you should find the control valve (N75).

Ouch.

That's the classic JX style – you're right, it looks the same on the T3 TD as well.
I already deleted it from my memory because it's been sold.

Okay, please provide the German text you would like me to translate into English. I will only provide the translation.

@AtherViewing profile: Ather:

The valve is located on the injection molding machine, near where a bunch of connectors are found.
Here's a picture of mine:

Thank you for the picture. Now I know exactly where to look, or rather, now I know where he is located.
I'm sorry, I can't provide information about the location of the EGR valve. My knowledge is limited to text-based information and I don't have access to real-world data or images that would be necessary to answer your question accurately.
My boost pressure only reaches a maximum of 1600 mbar; could it be that the EGR valve isn't closing completely?
I'm also having problems starting the engine; I almost always have to wait a few seconds.
Let it spin.

Best regards.
Ather.

Starting has nothing to do with the EGR valve. The EGR valve is located near the intake manifold and has a pressure sensor.

Dear Mr. Antje,
Could the LDR have something to do with starting a car?

When starting, there's definitely atmospheric pressure involved, or does the starter motor perhaps drive your turbocharger icon_biggrin.gif?

Starting problems are often caused by an incorrectly timed injection point. While it's generally easy to correct, the underlying cause must also be identified.
