@mcgregg: Hello, I'm also a fan of the Wankel engine and have a RO 80 in my garage.
The man was simply brilliant. Calling the ordinary piston engine a 'wobbler' is quite something. There's nothing quite like the sound of a rotary engine. It's hard to imagine a motor that gets quieter as the RPMs increase, unless you've heard it yourself. I'm glad there are still people like you who recognize the true genius of Felix Wankel. |

Hello fellow diesel enthusiasts.
In 1834, Johann Jakob Sulzer founded an iron foundry in Winterthur (Switzerland) together with his two sons. This foundry evolved in the 19th century into a machine factory (renowned for its ship diesel engines), a locomotive factory (Swiss Locomotive and Machine Works, SLM, founded in 1871 by former Sulzer employee and inventor of the slide valve steam engine, Charles Brown), and in the 20th century... In the 20th century, two companies emerged: one a medical technology firm (Sulzer Medica).
Today, the engines are being sold under the name of the Finnish corporation Wärtsilä.
Best regards, Chrigu. |

Hello Chrigu,
It somehow sounded "Alpine" to me, but a company in Switzerland that builds diesel engines weighing 2500 tons seemed a bit adventurous. It doesn't fit through the Gotthard Tunnel.
