It would probably be more worthwhile to just install a more powerful engine from the start, rather than messing around with just a VNT turbocharger.'
I need a wiring harness, control unit, exhaust manifold, downpipe (!?), mass airflow sensor, air intake manifold, turbo, etc.
It takes too long to gather all the individual parts, and besides, you can get a used AFN or something similar, with everything included, for a cheaper price and it's much simpler!

The catalytic converter was also from the AFN model. I shortened the connecting pipe from the 1Z and welded it to the catalytic converter connection. It fit perfectly, as the AFN pipes are 2 mm larger in diameter.

To the best of my knowledge, the acoustic characteristics of the 1Z and AFN engines are the same with respect to the bore diameter.

You initially wrote that it might be possible to convert a standard turbocharger to a VGT (Variable Geometry Turbocharger).

What exactly needs to be renovated?
