Reading through this entire thread, I am ashamed!
FFor me, even back then, it was like: 'You'll never fill up with that kind of crap.'
I've become a passionate diesel driver, even though I used to think differently (my brother once had a 1.6 Jetta Diesel, and it was a great car, but he only got rid of it because it rusted away. He missed it... back then, I laughed at him... now I understand). Once again, a huge thank you to everyone who helped me. Even the attempt to help counts for me! I especially want to thank Jens for his encouragement! A nice guy, like most people here, I'm sure.
I hope I can still be of use to this community/forum!
Again, with my deepest respect, and I mean it sincerely!
Regards:
Rainer.

Good evening, everyone.
Hooray, I'm still alive and I'm still the proud owner of a Golf TDI (ugh).
Since my last post, quite a few things have happened to my old car again...
The turbo became functional again at that time, and my vehicle then ran without entering the emergency mode. However, it wasn't due to the VTG adjustment; instead, the workshop likely didn't properly connect a hose to the control unit back then.
I'm sorry, but I want to get rid of my station wagon... I've been wanting to scrap it or sell it, but I haven't had the courage *g*. When I see the car in the parking lot, I feel hatred and could throw up...

Here's the translation:

'Let's go step by step.'
We would like to buy a Peugeot 307 HDI SW/Break, and I want to sell my current car privately beforehand. To make the car more attractive, I've invested in two new tires, a new windshield (the second one due to stone chips), new shock absorbers, new brakes, and new engine mounting bushings, among other things. (If I had known what was coming back then, I wouldn't have polished it *g*...)

Of course, I've been driving in 'limp home' mode for about 6 months now (again...amazing). Today, the diagnosis was made after another part on the air mass sensor was replaced for €40. The problem is that the control unit itself is completely broken.

My question is this: who would offer an engine control unit for such a car at a low price, because every euro invested in this car is too much.
If I offended anyone with my word choice, I apologize. But what I experienced with this car is something else entirely.
If you want to see my car:

http://www.autoscout24.de/home/index/detail.asp?ts=7798121&id=fgwif1iogi1

Best regards, and maybe I'll get lucky with the control unit sometime, or perhaps someone from the GT district will be able to help me with my car.

Okay...
I need the engine control unit with the VW part number: 028906021GH.
Bosch Part Number: 0281001652
If anyone has a control unit like that to offer, I would appreciate a private message.

And after all your experiences with workshops, do you believe that without any reservations icon_eek.gif icon_question.gif?

If the MSG were a cheap, €5 part that's prone to failure, I could understand your concern.
However, based on my experience, the mass airflow sensor (MAF) is one of the most durable parts on a TDI, and it's not exactly cheap... I would only replace it if you've definitely ruled out all other (cheaper) possibilities as the cause.

Hello Ulf,
Well... unfortunately, I don't have any other options. Although the diagnosis was made at a workshop, it was done by someone who always repairs my car and works on VW vehicles.
I also have doubts because his suffering has been going on for weeks, months, or even years, and there's always something new happening, but I don't know anything about it and unfortunately, I depend on him.
According to measurements and evaluations, the control unit is supposedly projecting or displaying the errors.

As a former AFN user, I would like to check the car with VAGCOM because I'm interested in solving this mystery. For example, to diagnose the LD (limp home) mode, you only need to read block 11 and inject different pressures into the hose leading to the MSG using a syringe.

But unfortunately, it's probably a bit too far from North Rhine-Westphalia to the Saarland...

That's a measly 450 kilometers... *g*
Unfortunately, I'm not a member of the ADAC*, but thanks so much for your offer!
He's installing the part for free. At least something... I think we should be able to fix any problems that arise, though.
I was looking for something like that.
I'll call him later to find out what mistakes he made.

I just called a little while ago.
The error log indicated a faulty intake manifold pressure sensor. It was replaced (costing around 40 euros), and the error is now gone.
He also reports the following error: 'Mass Air Flow sensor short circuit.' The Mass Air Flow sensor has been replaced, but the error message persists.
Following that (because you supposedly had a similar issue at the workshop before), the diagnosis was determined to be a faulty control unit.

I also had the 021 GH, and in that one, the pressure sensor is located inside.
So, that means they soldered something on your motherboard (for just €40 including materials)? Was it an auto repair shop, or who performed the repair?

LMM short circuit. The LMM was replaced - without success - the error is still displayed.
Subsequently (because you supposedly had it before at the workshop), the diagnosis was made: the control unit is defective.
Great, and nobody thinks about the wiring harness?
Sure, if it were the MSG
, replacing it would require less work than measuring 5 cables. . . but as Hati already wrote: who bears the cost of the MSG if the problem is actually in the wiring harness?

'My colleague did the repair. Since the bearing on the engine mount was worn out and a screw broke off at home, the vehicle had to be towed. It was then officially/unofficially repaired at the workshop, involving cutting a new thread, and during that process, the other issue was addressed. He told me that the pressure sensor costs 40€ (supposedly just the material cost).'

He just told me that he measured the cables to the mass airflow sensor.

Okay,
The control unit arrived yesterday, and the car is pulling strongly again. It hasn't gone into limp mode yet. The turbo isn't whistling anymore when idling, although it might not have been doing that before either. The car also starts better now, although the starting behavior was good after the battery replacement. I'm a little hesitant to say everything is okay again, but you can definitely feel in the acceleration that it's pulling much better. The so-called 'driving pleasure' is returning...

'Even so, I still feel sick when I see it parked in the driveway. Now I just need to replace the front wheel bearings and then it can go. A potential buyer has already expressed interest in buying it.'

Thank you to everyone who helped me!

Regards:
Rainer.
