Hi,

Does anyone know if the fuel injectors for the 90 hp AHU and ALH engines (manual transmission) are the same?
Part number: 038 130 201.

Thank you icon_smile.gif.

The AHU is still a G3 engine.

m;

ALH 038 130 201 G (the letters are important!!!)
AHU 028 130 201 G

The engines differ in some details.

The nozzles have different part numbers, so they are probably NOT the same!

Hi,
That's not a reasonable answer. It may be true that the nozzles aren't identical, but that doesn't necessarily mean that a 038 130 201 G nozzle from a G4 engine can be used in a G3 engine instead of a 028 130 201 G. I'd also be interested in knowing the difference.

Paul.

You can at least compare the nozzle opening pressures (which are usually specified).

Best regards, Rainer.

I have already done that. According to Bosch, they are the same. However, I haven't found any information about whether they differ in their physical design. Possibly the connector is different for the NHG model.
Thank you.

ALH is, as far as I know, a newer generation than AHU.

Since the combustion process is constantly being refined, the combustion chamber geometry, swirl, etc., are also being modified in various ways, and the spray pattern of the injectors is adjusted accordingly.

In short: While the nozzles might physically fit into the "wrong" engine, the engine will likely run with them, but the combustion process will no longer be as intended by the developers.
This essentially voids the vehicle's operating license (even if it doesn't receive any additional power!).

That's exactly what was asked in the first place! So, what's wrong with Martin's answer?

"You actually asked about that first! So, what's wrong with Martin's answer?"

@Ulf: Isn't that a bit of a nitpicking argument... we know what was meant by it!
No offense!

"Well, this is something. Ulf's answer sounds reasonable; at least there's a justification provided. Whether it's correct is another matter. But it seems logical to me."
Best regards and thank you for your reply.

Whether it's true is another matter. But it sounds logical to me.

She is correct. icon_wink.gif The swirl and piston crown shape (combustion chamber geometry) are optimized for the injector spray pattern.
