hello,

Does anyone know if there was a version of the engine control unit (ECU) that didn't have a connection for the boost pressure sensor?

I found one on e***, but the seller doesn't have the connector for my specific control unit. I can't imagine how it's supposed to work otherwise.

The engine control unit (ECU) is supposed to be from a Volkswagen Golf III AFN with the part number 028 906 021 GH or JG. Based on its appearance, it's an MSA15 (it looks exactly like mine).

I'm asking because I want to buy a new one. I already have one with the number 028 906 021 DF, and it's for a VW. A GH or JG would also fit, but it's strange if they don't have a connector.

best regards, BB

My information on this is:

Some AFNs (Air Flow Nozzles) have a pressure sensor in the intake manifold.

However, these are devices from the Passat 3B.

I don't know what the f*ck it was.

In the G3, I had the 021GH, definitely with a hose nipple.

G3 TDI engines (AHU, AFN and all newer 1Z models) use an MSA15.5 control unit with a 68-pin connector.
integrated charge pressure sensor and integrated altitude sensor.
Part number format: 028 906 021 xx.

Later (e.g., in the A3), there was the MSA15.7 with a split connector and without a boost pressure sensor.
(as Martin already mentioned).
Part number format: 038 906 018 xx.

Best regards,
Rudi

I'm just going to post the link so you can see for yourselves what I'm talking about.

If this is prohibited, I would like to apologize in advance and request that an administrator delete the link.

The picture seems quite clear... icon_eek.gif

The handwritten numbers would also belong to a Golf 3 AFN.

But - even with the latest G3 models (Variant and Cabrio - year '99), the G71 was...
integrated into the control unit; so it should have that connection!
The only MSA15.5 drives I know of that don't have this connector are those from the SDIs (e.g., 021FJ).

Whatever is being offered in the auction, I would stay away from it.
The price isn't exactly a bargain either.

Best regards,
Rudi

I would have said the same thing. AFN engine control units are simply more expensive than those from Sauger.
