Does the piston go inside or outside the container?
Going in is simpler; going out would only be achievable with more complex structures in the membrane .
Can it be moved manually?
I have a 038 131 501 E here, and I can move the bypass valve, but not the EGR valve.
I'm holding the same valve right now. The piston goes inside the canister, and you can't move the EGR valve by hand – it has to seal against over 3 bar of exhaust back pressure.
If you don't need the can for the diverter valve, I can help you find a willing buyer.
