Hello everyone.
As I announced yesterday, today I replaced the turbocharger on my Golf IV ALH. The original turbo was a VNT15. I'm replacing it with an ARL turbo, specifically the GT1749VB model. Everything is the same between the two turbos, except that I need to rotate the housing slightly on the ARL turbo to make it fit.
"I also have two problems: The loaders are supported downwards by a bracket attached to the block. To achieve this, the loaders have an eyelet that is screwed into the bracket. This eyelet is rotated 90 degrees on the RL loader. Does anyone know if the bracket is different on the ARL model and whether I can use it?"
Ausserdem passt der alte Ladelustschlauch der zum LLK geht nicht auf den Lader. Weis jeamnd von euch welchen ich da nehmen kann ? Bilder hängen an. Best regards.

Is anyone still checking this forum after the recent changes? It shouldn't be a problem for you experts to figure out where this loader came from.

Well, as far as I know, the Audi Coupe (ARL) has a turbocharger with the VAG part number 038253016 G.
That suggests your charger probably came from a different vehicle (I can't tell you which one, possibly with a longitudinally mounted engine?), and that's why it has the incorrect flanges.

Yes, it's for the ARL (Arbeitslosenregister).
The current 150HP turbochargers have a clip connection on the pressure side; suitable adapters are available here:

Hello Marzocci,
Take a look here:
http://www.vwspeed.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=88_95&products_id=158
It states that the charger with number 716213-1 (and others) is installed in the Golf with a 150 HP engine (engine code?) from 2000 onwards.
Best regards,

This is where it belongs, and nowhere else! Had to help out!

Title: Question about turbochargers.
"Die Sonne scheint hell und warm. Die Vögel zwitschern fröhlich in den Bäumen. Ein leichter Wind weht durch das Gras. Es ist ein perfekter Tag für einen Spaziergang."
I'm sorry to bother you again, but this is really important. I'm feeling quite lost right now. Has anyone of you ever seen a compressor outlet on a TDI turbocharger that looked similar to the one circled in the picture? If so, please let me know immediately. Thank you!

What's your problem? Everything has already been said.

The problem is that I've already ordered various hoses from Volkswagen, and none of them fit the flange at the compressor outlet.
Normally, the hoses are connected and secured with a clamp. This flange with the three threads is something I've never seen before. I suspected that someone might have tampered with it, but the data for the turbocharger is on the compressor housing, so it can't be. It's very suspicious!

I also think someone has modified something. It looks different in the AKTE system.

...or something was disassembled.
Perhaps you might someday have the opportunity to examine an original ARL document. Then you would know exactly what the original looks like. Unfortunately, they are not very common.
There are a few of those for sale at dealerships near you. Go check them out, take them for a test drive, and see what they're like.

You should ask VW for the parts for your turbocharger. It's an older model, and it might have a different connection. The parts service usually only provides the newer versions if parts have been replaced, and while the 038253016D was replaced, to my knowledge, only changes were made to the bearing (the successor, 038253016G, is now also available in revision 5). It looks strange on yours; I also have the 038253016D, but mine looks different. Are you sure it's the "D" model? Sometimes the markings are no longer legible. Visually, it looks more like the "F" model. Could you take a picture of the type plate?

Hello, thank you for the answers.
"@ Hati It's relatively rare to get a test drive with high-performance models at the age of 22. Sure, if you really push for it, maybe you can, but not easily. I'm also not sure if they even have those models available for test drives anymore, especially since some of them are no longer in production. And you don't just casually look at the loader either. Besides that, a different loader with a different compressor housing (XX016G) was used starting in 2002."
No one messed around with the loader; they completely dismantled it.
"I now know that the charger normally has a kind of "silencer" attached to it, which is included with the charger and is missing here. It's not sold separately. I have two options: either I can have a custom-made flange machined that I can use as an adapter in between, or I can install the compressor housing from a GT1749VB turbocharger, part number xxx016G. That should fit and have the standard connection."
I found someone who has a single enclosure - I hope it fits.
I've been to the Volkswagen dealership countless times about this issue, and they simply have no idea what's going on – it's shocking!
Sure, here is the translation of the text from German to English:
"PS: It's definitely a 'D' type nameplate and it's still readable."

@ Hati
...I'm not sure if the models available for test drives are ones that are no longer in production.
Luckily, there are still used cars available.
The dealers I listed for you are mostly located near you, and they all have a used VW Golf with the 150PS ARL engine advertised. And believe me, if a dealer wants to sell a used car, they have to allow test drives...
But you now have a different solution in mind.
