Hello.
I am looking for an engine control unit (ECU) for my VW Bora TDI with 115 horsepower.
My control unit number is 038 906 019 AM, what does the "AM" signify?
On eBay, there are control units with the number 038 906 019, but instead of "AM" after the number, it says something else.
Would something like that fit me? (referring to HJ or KD, etc.)
best regards
Christian.

"AM" is simply part of the part number.
Just like I'm called "dieselmartin" and not "dieselma."
If someone offers you an engine control unit (ECU) with different letters at the end, it might fit, but it also might not be compatible at all.
First, make sure you have the correct "AJM" engine code (found on the sticker in the service booklet). You might also want to check the engine number.
I can't tell you if the other parts fit.
Okay, please provide the German text you would like me to translate into English. I will only provide the translation. Transparency, Teamwork
... there was another T.
I don't know what the f*ck it was.

Hello Dieselmartin,
Yes, my engine is an AJM, so as you mentioned, I need the same part.
Control unit, where "AM" is also indicated.
best regards
Chris.

No, not necessarily.
I'm not very familiar with the AJM, but with the 1Z, it's like this:
Mine has part number 028 906 021 AF installed. If I buy a new one from VW now, it will come with the "GG" version. So, I don't necessarily need the "AF" version.
However, the number 028 906 021 GH (from AFN) does not fit.

The original would still fit with the ending 'CJ'.

The control unit with part number 038 906 019 AM has been replaced by the control unit with part number 039 906 019 CJ. The cost is approximately €910.
