Hi.

I was just wondering if anyone here has ever done something like that before?
Regarding my hardware, it's an older interface that someone here on the forum soldered together, probably about three or four years ago. So far, I haven't had any problems with older vehicles. I have an old Audi 80 TDI myself, and reading the error codes from Polos manufactured around 1992 is also not a problem. With these older vehicles, I can only access the error codes (measuring block 0), but that's better than nothing. With newer cars (Golf 3, A4, Polo 6N), everything works perfectly. However, today a friend came by with a 1991 Golf 2, and I unfortunately couldn't help him. What I now know is that all Golf 2s have a yellow or white connector in the engine compartment, near the firewall, which is connected to a diagnostic device to read the error codes. Also, the number of characters is less with these "newer" control units; it consists of 4 characters instead of 5.
You need to obtain the power supply separately from the battery. If it's possible to do this with VAG-COM, would only the K-line be connected to that specific pin?

Regards,

Thomas.

I understand that already, but I wanted to know if it's possible to read the codes using VCDS. At the VW dealership, they also connect their diagnostic tool, and not some old code reader.

Regards,

Thomas.

No, VAG-COM does not support diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).

Blinkcodes only supports the VAG-1551 (or was it the 1552?), and the newer VAS-505x devices do not support it either.
