Hello,

Next week, I'm getting an A4 TDI with 96 kW, manufactured in 2001. Since it doesn't have cruise control, I'd like to install one. (Once you're used to it, you really don't want to live without it.) I also had one installed in my old Golf 3 TDI, manufactured in 1994. Is the installation process the same? Could someone provide me with the VW/Audi part numbers for the parts I need for the installation?

You're very welcome in advance.

Maik.

It's not quite as straightforward, because, to my knowledge, not all the cables from the control unit to the central electrical system are connected yet, as they are in the G3 model.

But there are (at least for VWs) retrofit kits available that should include everything.

I don't know what the f*ck it was.

It's designed for a B5/8D model...

Edit icon_wink.gif anything else for the B6?

Or simply search for it yourself...

Hello friends,

Don't be discouraged if your workshop tells you that the retrofitting of a GRA (Gas Return Actuator) is not possible on the new A4, type 8E.
'is no longer possible!!!'

I had the GRA installed later, and it works perfectly!

I was fortunate enough to find a workshop foreman at VW Fuchs in Linz who was interested.
who, at my urging, also decided to tackle this topic!

The required parts are:

8E0953521D 4PK Cruise control switch.
8E0953549L Electronic module (Probably only required without a multifunction steering wheel and without a FIS - onboard computer).
8E0953512G 6PS Lower trim panel (pay attention to the color).

Everything is working great, including the display that lights up between the speedometer and tachometer when the GRA (gradient assistance) is activated!

According to the workshop, the only advice I can give is to have the diagnostic device tested beforehand.
ob sich die GRA-Funktion im Steuergerät wirklich freischalten läßt. Diese Vorsicht ist insofern geboten (lt. Weworkshop)
because the parts catalog specifically lists two part numbers for the control unit – one with GRA and one without GRA.

But, as you can see, I needed an engine control unit without GRA (Gasoline Direct Injection), but apparently, the function can still be enabled.
enable.

According to Meister, unlocking the feature in the diagnostic device's menu is just as easy as it is for, for example, a 1997 Golf TDI.
If your workshop can't find this menu item, then it's time to question their expertise!

Okay, friends of all GRA clubs – it's really about the new A4 – let's head to the workshops!

Thank you very much for the information.
Okay, I'm going to order the GRA switch and the electronic module now. I should also order the FIS switch at the same time, as it should be easy to activate.

Regards,
Maik.

Hello.

'I have another question. I installed the electronic module with the part number 8E0953549F. Can I connect the cruise control and the FIS (multifunction display) to it, or do I need the new module with the 'L' suffix?'

Here are all the part numbers from the Audi dealer that I would need to order:

8E0953521D Cruise control switch 24€
8E0953549L Electronic module €129
8E0953512G Trim part 26€
8E0953503C FIS switch €70
N90906801 Screws

Kommt das für den kompl. Renovation?

Can anyone provide me with the order number for the radio clock module?

Thank you and best regards.
Maik.

Okay, everything is installed and it's working.
The GRA (Gearbox Control Unit), FIS (Instrument Cluster), and radio can be easily installed and activated in the A4 TDI 96KW model, allowing you to enjoy them right away.

Thank you for your help.

Regards,
Maik.
