I'm having a huge problem with the driver's side door lock.
In 9 out of 10 cases, the following happens:
Whether using the key fob or the key in the lock, the sound of the door lock engaging is only heard once. The indicator light confirming the locking doesn't flash, but the LED on the door handle does. If I repeatedly press the 'lock' button on the key fob, the lock eventually engages. The double locking mechanism is then activated, and the alarm system also functions.
Unfortunately, it's no longer possible to operate the FH (firearm) using the key.
WHAT COULD THAT BE???
The search function didn't produce satisfactory results...
It's a Volkswagen Golf 4, a 3-door model, and it's the Highline trim level.
By the way, I only realized through this problem that the car has an alarm system.
If the door closes twice and the hazard lights flash once, the car cannot be unlocked from the inside. If you try to unlock it from the inside (by pulling the interior door handle), the alarm system will activate.
That is probably the desired state.
Currently, the door usually only clicks shut once, allowing you to unlock the car from the inside without triggering the alarm system.
Are the microswitches in the lock the problem? Or is it more likely a control unit?
