Hey everyone,

Has anyone ever logged data for block 018 in the engine control unit (ECU)?

If I understand the description in the label file correctly:

18.0, PD valve status (after 1 minute of idling - coolant > 80°C).
18.1, Cylinder 1, 0.
18.2, Cyl 2.0,
18.3, Cyl 3.0
18.4, Cyl 4, 0.
If the reading is not zero, it indicates a faulty valve, an open circuit, lack of fuel, or air bubbles.

-> Shouldn't the values jump to 1-2-3-4 after one minute of idling at a temperature above 80°C, right?

Has anyone tried this before? It's not working for me, and it might be a possible solution to my performance issues.

Regards,

Christian.

Hi!
They should NOT all be set to 80 or any other value; they should remain at '0'. Within this MW block, the PD status is indicated. A value of 0 means "okay," while a value of 1 indicates a fault.

And this:
Quote:
18.0, PD valve status (after 1 minute of idling - coolant > 80°C)

means:
PD valve status (after one minute of idle operation with coolant temperature above 80°C). Therefore, the engine is at operating temperature!

Best regards,
pretzel

Hi everyone,
If the reading is not zero, it indicates a faulty valve, an open circuit, lack of fuel, or air bubbles.

Okay.

'But what's written above indicates that if the result is 0, then it implies 'inoperative valve/open circuit/lack of fuel/bubbles'.'

Regards,

Christian.

'if != 0' means 'if not equal to zero' in English. (Pay attention to the exclamation mark, as it means 'not').

Therefore, if the value is zero, everything is fine.

Private.

Oh, I see.

Okay, that makes sense. I must have been misled by the mathematical notation, where the exclamation mark above the equals sign indicates an equivalence.

Best regards,

Christian.

Computer table is "!=", which means "not equal to".

Java.
"=" is for assignment, "==" is for comparison.

Delphi.
":=" assignment, "=" comparison.

Here's a quick question from me.
what does the number 14 or 6 mean in the MWB 018?
The number 6 often appears when starting up.
I found a description, but the two of them are not listed there.

018,0, Status: Pump-Nozzle Valves (BIP | Cylinders 1-4)
; 000 - Error-free regulation.
; 002 - Control during startup.
; 004 - Small injection volume or low mixing ratio.
; 008 - Maximum current reached.
; 016 - GDP outside of standard reporting period.
; 032 - Sampling rate too low.
; 064 - Transformation error.
; 128 - GDP calculation not possible.
018.1, PD valve, Cylinder 1, Setpoint: 0.
018.2, PD valve, Cylinder 2, Setpoint: 0.
018.3, PD valve, Cylinder 3, Setpoint: 0.
018.4, PD valve, Cylinder 4, Setpoint: 0.

I have to mention that I'm using VAG-COM 3.11.

Hi,

The values are likely binary-encoded, meaning that 6 corresponds to the code 004 + 002, and 14 corresponds to 8 + 4 + 2.

Regards,
klaus

"Hmm, not bad. I wouldn't have thought of that."
Although I am aware of binary code.
but it could actually be true.

At one point during the trip, it ran on only three cylinders.
How should this be interpreted? Is it a brief power outage or too much [something]?
It's all so complicated...

Yesterday, after my engine went into protection mode.
It's a "15" and it's located in the second cylinder.

What makes up a score of 15?

; 002 - Control during startup.
; 004 - Small injection volume or low mixing ratio.
; 008 - Maximum current reached.
and where does the rest come from?

Hi,

001 - I suspect there's a flawed regulation in place.

Sure, here is the translation of the text from German to English:

An error was also recorded in the process.
after he entered the protection program.

Is the PDE (positive displacement element) on the 2-cylinder engine defective now, or could it just be the seals?
Does a tandem pump have pressure problems?
"Who is kind enough to interpret this for me?"

Thank you in advance.

Hi,

Do you happen to have the Bosch or VW part number handy?

Regards,
Klaus.

@blizzard

As you've already been told, the whole thing is probably binary-encoded.

A number 15 would likely correspond to 1111 in the binary numbering system.
The question now is which bit has something to say.
You probably already have it sorted for the 2nd to 4th bits.

; 002 - Control during startup.
; 004 - Small injection volume or low mixing ratio.
; 008 - Maximum current reached.

only the first one is missing.

greetings

Hello,

Okay, I've done a little research. The list of codes you provided is not correct. For the specific SG (Serial Gateway) that you mentioned, the possible values are as follows:

0: OK.
2, 4, 6, 7, 10, 14, 15, ... and a few more.
Therefore, they are not bit-encoded.

I will get more detailed information later.

Best regards,
Klaus.
