Does a retrofitted tow hitch for a Caddy manufactured in 2006 need to be reprogrammed in the vehicle's control unit?
Will be? If so, I would appreciate a brief update.

It needs to be unlocked by the friendly (VW dealer), but I'm unfortunately unable to tell you how much that will cost.
Hopefully, I was able to help you a little bit.

ECU address 9 (vehicle network), then long coding.
Modify byte 4 of the tool included with the diagnostic system.

The body control module must not be coded, nor is it allowed to be coded. In the case of the Caddy, a non-diagnosable control unit is installed, which means, in other words, that nothing needs to be changed. If, unexpectedly, a diagnosable control unit is installed, then the CAN gateway must be coded accordingly, as well as the trailer hitch control unit.

Hmm, are they using recycled parts, or did the workshops make too many adjustments to the previous models?
