Hello fellow enthusiasts,
'I have a Seat Ibiza TDI with an AFN engine, and it has 290,000 km on the clock. Recently, I've noticed the following issue: I often drive long distances, and now, after about 250 km, the clutch pedal becomes harder to press than usual. Normally, it's light and easy to press, but this only happens sporadically after a long drive. If I leave the car standing for about 2 hours, everything goes back to normal. Does anyone have any ideas? Could it be the clutch master cylinder or the slave cylinder?'

P.S. During the drive, I don't have to shift gears very often, as most of the journey can be done on the highway in 5th gear!

Hi,

Does it feel "creaky" or "grating" when it happens?

"If that's the case... then you need new bushings for the pedal. That's what it was like in my Ibiza ASV, at least. Lubricating it beforehand only helped to a limited extent, and the problem (despite the air conditioning) usually only appeared on very warm days."

Best regards,

Jan.

The clutch release bearing in my 1Z engine is noisy, because it makes more noise outside than inside.

Hi,

That's probably a different issue... In my case, it happened at less than 20,000 km. Also, I felt the noise more than I heard it... I don't think the hydraulics would transmit it like that. After replacing the pedal bushings, the problem disappeared.

Best regards,

Hm... I feel it too...

Then I suppose I should take a look at the bearing bush as well.

Jan6k,

Well, it might be creaking a bit now! But as you wrote, it only happens on very warm days! Do you happen to remember the price of the bushings? Are they easy to replace?

Hello,

Well, it's easy to replace, but unfortunately, the transmission has to be removed first. If this refers to the guide bushing for the release bearing...
