Hello,
I have a Golf 3 AFN TDI, and since this extreme heat has been occurring recently, the electronics in my car have been malfunctioning. This manifests itself as follows:
- The engine stalls while idling at a red light when starting to move, and it won't restart for several seconds (it cranks without any response).
- Recently, the engine has also been cutting out while driving (which is not fun), and it takes a long time to restart.
Does anyone have any ideas? Has this issue been encountered before? (I couldn't find anything using the search function.)
Best regards, Nico.

hi
Have you ever inspected the famous relay 109? Is it possible that a break in a solder joint is the cause of the problem, and you're attributing it to heat (perhaps coincidentally?)
Good luck!

It would also sometimes take several seconds to restart.
Yo, I agree with my predecessors. I can confirm this from my own experience. Once, it stopped working for me in the middle of the city, right in the middle of an intersection .
And it was Saturday afternoon, just before 4, and only ATU was still open (but of course, they didn't have it ).

I'm curious to know if this damned relay 109 has finally been discontinued and replaced with a semiconductor circuit in newer engine generations.
I've had this problem even in my customized VW bus. I pulled out the relay, stuck a piece of wire in there, and managed to get home. Then I put in a new relay, and everything was okay again. Let's see how long it lasts...

"I haven't installed these... complicated 109 relays in my T3 TDI. Instead, I installed a simple, robust relay from Bosch! No problems with it! You just need to modify one connector so that the simple relay can be activated." NA,Gehörlose wie ich können auch Schrauben! Ihr HÖRT ich FÜHLE! I was thinking about using a large MOSFET and a driver circuit instead, since mine stopped working. Let's see, maybe I'll try that again.
