It's a Fabia TDI (engine code ATD) with an aftermarket GRA (glow relay assembly) that has been correctly and neatly wired.
STG.: 038-906-019AF
Occasionally, especially under poor road conditions and in wet weather, the cruise control system disengages. The cruise control is connected to the vehicle's body control module and communicates with the engine control module via the CAN bus (unlike in some other vehicles, it is not directly connected to the engine control module!). The last time this happened, I read the error memory:
1. DTCs Found:
18097 - Powertrain Data Bus: Implausible message from Central Electronics 35-10 - - - Intermittent.

Does anyone know the exact cause, and can someone explain the "35-10 - - -" in the message to me?
I have checked the correct function of the GRA switch in the body control module (09) in measuring block 22, field 2. Everything is OK. Otherwise, there are no known error codes or malfunctions.

Stay positive and thank you.
OlBe.

Hello,

Unfortunately, I only have the wiring diagrams from VW and Audi for the ATD engine at the moment. In those diagrams, the GRA (glow relay) is directly connected to the engine control unit (ECU). Could you please provide me with the part number of your GRA switch?
Tschüss

Hello,

To me, this looks like a communication problem within the CAN-Bus system.
Since you used the original wiring harness, I assume that the CAN bus lines are properly twisted and not located near extreme sources of interference.
Perhaps you should double-check the connections of the CAN bus lines from the switch to the gateway to ensure they are securely seated (not just the entire connector, but the individual contacts).
Tschüss

Hi Michael,
I didn't modify anything on the CAN bus line during the installation.
The switch receives power via the brake pedal switch (bl/rt pin 2) and then (presumably) transmits it to the engine control unit (ECU) via the ws pin 10 wire (fail-safe). The individual positions of the GRA lever (SET/-, RES/+, ON, STOP, OFF) are evaluated by the body control module and then sent to the ECU via the CAN bus...
Where (on which connector) of the body control module (BCM) (STG 09) are the CAN bus lines connected? I want to trace them in the wiring harness.
Does anyone know what "35-10 - - -" means in the error message? Maybe it gives a clue as to where the mistake occurred...
Stay cheerful.
Olbe.

The problems started (I haven't done anything). A week ago, there was an error message every 5 minutes. Now, after 6 days of testing, there are no more entries. It seems the issue has resolved itself, but it will probably bother me again later...
For information, the numbers in the error message indicate:
35 indicates no error type (no further description).
10 means the error is intermittent.
00 means the error is persistent.
In measurement blocks 125 and 126, you can monitor the communication with other control units.
Nodding cheerfully.
