VW Industrial Engines: Parts & Service

Hi,

Interestingly, VW is still selling older engines, and even the 1.9-liter models are sometimes equipped with an 827 engine block and an intermediate shaft.

1.9L naturally aspirated diesel engine with swirl chamber injection.
MKB: ADG

1.9L TDI with distributor-based ESP.
MKB: AfD

2.5L TDI with distributed ESP.
MKB: BBR

So, the production lines for the old engine blocks haven't been destroyed; somewhere, they're still in operation.

Is that definitely the AfD? I didn't see anything there at a quick glance...

My program says that the AfD only has 60 kW and was built as an industrial engine until 01/2002...

Well, you can never be completely sure.
The bore/stroke and the vacuum pump indicate an 827 engine block. The engine brochure doesn't mention any specific engine code (MKB), but the installation diagram shows "AFD".
