Hello.

'The fuel pump in my Seat (with a 90PS TDI engine) has failed. The engine is running very unevenly when idling. Three of the injectors are receiving full pressure, but the fourth injector (cylinder number 4) is getting almost no pressure. The part number for the pump is: 0 460 404 971.'

What should I do now? According to VAG, the replacement cost is €940. Sorry, but my Ibiza 6K isn't a Ferrari; it probably doesn't make economic sense anymore.

Unser Boschdienst verlangt 150€ nur fürs aufschrauben, aber da wird noch nicht mal was repariert. Und er sagt bei einer Laufleistung von nun fast 200tkm rentiert sich das nicht mehr. Glexchange

And on eBay, I bought a used one that also doesn't work; it has absolutely no pressure, and the drive wheel can be turned very easily. I think it's even more defective than my old pump.

What should I do with my original pump now without having to spend €940? There are also some on eBay that offer a replacement for €400 (checked, all parts new, etc.), but I don't trust them anymore after my previous bad experience!

I am grateful for any advice.

Best regards,

Have you ever had your wiring checked? What other option do you have besides having the part repaired by Bosch?

Hello,

I find it unusual that from three lines...
what is coming and what comes from the fourth.
Have you ever checked the pressure relief valves?
between the fuel injection pump and the injector line.
"are built-in. They are there to..."
to maintain a certain pressure within the system.

Where do you live?

Best regards,

Hello,

No, the offered link only describes the disassembly, resealing, and adjustment of the fuel injection pump.
If nothing is coming out of a pipe or line, there's likely a mechanical problem somewhere.
Is the engine still running with the pump?

Best regards, Rainer.

Hi,

I have a suitable pump on hand. I bought it used as a spare part for my own equipment.

I disassembled it, cleaned it, replaced the seals, and adjusted it. I also test-fitted it on my own car and drove it for a few days: It runs perfectly, with no surging or hesitation (which is common in used parts). Since then, I've put it in my spare parts inventory for the turbo, cylinder head, and other things that you should always have on hand. Now I'm waiting to see if anything actually breaks on my engine. But most likely, everything will remain fine as long as I have the right replacement parts (Murphy's Law icon_confused.gif).

I would sell them for a fixed price of €350 with a guarantee of functionality.

Best regards,
Sure.

Here is the translation of the text from German to English:

"Guste" means "gust" in English. It can also be used as a verb, meaning "to gust."

Hello.

Thank you for your help so far.
Unfortunately, it was already quite urgent, and I had the pump repaired by Bosch.
Price: Approximately €350 for the basic testing procedure on the test stand, which includes disassembling and adjusting the signaling system, running tests on the test stand, and making adjustments.

Well, it wasn't a bargain, but it works again.

Best regards!

Hi,

And what exactly was broken on the pump?

Best regards, Rainer.

Hi.

Okay, so some kind of donor is needed?? And the signaling system was misconfigured, how is that even possible?? In any case, they haven't encountered this situation before where something comes out of three exits and not one.
Initial suspicion of faulty pressure relief valves was not confirmed.
Unfortunately, the invoice doesn't provide more detailed information.

Best regards!

Hello.

Unfortunately, I'm experiencing a small problem. When I drive on the highway at full throttle for about 1 minute and then reduce the throttle to approximately 80%, the engine experiences significant misfires (2 or 3 times).

The engine doesn't really start up completely.

I have no idea what's wrong again, but there are no error codes in the system memory.

'When running at full load, there are no issues. Similarly, if I always drive at 130 km/h, there are also no problems.'

What could be causing this?

Best regards,

It's probably the ESP again... it's best to go back to Bosch and have them fix it.

What did you do with the item you bought that was defective? If he didn't explicitly state that it was defective in the auction listing, I would return it. If he doesn't want to take it back, just threaten to involve a lawyer. That usually works.

What do you mean by 'correct'? Can I do that myself, or can only Bosch do it?

She's back, and she'll get her money back without any problems.

No, what I meant was that you had them repair the pump, and it's still not working... you already paid for it, so they need to take care of it.
