Hello Forum users,
Having seen many discussions on similar topics, I'm now very interested in the subject mentioned in the title, as I have this exact control unit in my van. The background is that the control unit was supposedly "chipped" with an original VAG chip and has been further modified. I don't know if these modifications were done via software (if possible) or through hardware; I haven't opened it up yet.
Here's the translation:
Regarding the issue: The power delivery is enormous from the low RPM range! The turbo kicks in extremely early. Now, some people might say that's a good thing! But for me, what matters now is the lifespan of my modified T3 transmission, rather than an insane increase in power. Therefore, I would like to replace the modified engine control unit with an original one.
Getting the exact GN (Grounding Node) connection isn't easy, and I was wondering if anyone could tell me which ones are fully compatible... especially regarding the clutch and second brake pedal signals for GRA (Gearbox Remote Actuator). The GN has +12V in that area, while others might have it grounded.
Thank you very much for your tips!
Best regards, Franz. 1,9 l AFN mit Schick Wasser LLK im T3

Hello,
For the price of a used AFN engine control unit, I would be happy to upgrade your ECU back to its original configuration .
If you add a little more power, it's even possible to make a meaningful adjustment for the bus transmission. It's absolutely no problem to maintain a relatively flat torque curve, for example at 240 Nm. This prevents overloading and, at the same time, allows the bus to perform significantly better than originally in the higher RPM range.
Best regards, Rainer.

Hi Rainer,
Sounds interesting, what does a used control unit cost from you?
Okay, just kidding, have you ever done that for a T3 owner before?

Hello,
I just bought the same control unit again from the auction house! Now I'm having problems with the WFS (Wireless Function System). The WFS was deactivated in my current control unit (but I don't know who or where did it... it was already like that when I bought it).
Ich dachte jetzt jedes GN Steuergerät hat keine WFS ... Mistake! / Error! / Wrong!
Since I don't want to desolder the chips, I probably need to get a new WFS control unit and the corresponding keys with transponders. Is there anything else I should be aware of, or can any WFS control unit be programmed to work with the engine control unit?
Best regards, Frebert. 1,9 l AFN mit Schick Wasser LLK im T3
