Hello,
Are there frequently occurring problems with the EGR valve on current 2.0L TDI engines?
I've already had two cars here that had a clear error code memory, but the readiness screen indicated a "defective exhaust gas recirculation system." The mileage was approximately 10,000 km and 50,000 km, respectively.
At least one of the two units definitely had a faulty check valve.
Why is the information related to readiness data not stored in the error memory?
I noticed these issues in each case because of implausible lambda sensor (LMM) data under full load, and in one car specifically because of the occasional black smoke (the other one had a DPF).
Best regards, Rainer.

Hello Rainer,
Which 2.0 models were they?
I could ask my brother-in-law about the BMR (16V DPF 125 kW) and the BMP (8V DPF 103 kW) models of his car.
Besides the beeping sound from the throttle valve, which is a component related to the EGR system, I haven't noticed anything else on the BMR.

... there was another T.
I don't know what the f*ck it was.

Hi Martin,
Golf 5 and Skoda Octavia. Part numbers: 03G906021JG and ???. Likely BMM/BMP engines.
Best regards, Rainer.

"Our BMP (likely referring to a diagnostic tool) will also be used to read the data... however, it has only been driven 1850 km. Rainer, you mentioned broken AGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) pipe connections recently. Did that affect the same engines?"

In my opinion, that was the 1.9-liter engine with 105 horsepower.
@Rainer
Is there already, or is there any possibility of, an electronic programming solution or replacement circuit to disable the throttle valve and the EGR system?
without the engine going into emergency mode, or without it being detected during the emissions test.
That's not a condition, regardless of the manufacturer.

It was a BKC...

Could that be the reason why some engines need to regenerate their DPF so frequently, as has been reported? Gruß Christian

It's quite possible... today, another 2.0 TDI with a throttle body problem, specifically the BKD engine. The turbocharger boost control is completely messed up as long as the EGR valve is active.
Best regards, Rainer.

With the BKD engine, you can disable the AGR (Abgasrückführung) by blocking the vacuum control line. It takes about 5 seconds. The engine response below 2000 RPM will then be noticeably better, but still not amazing!

The control unit detects this and stores a corresponding error code.

'This recently happened to my brother's car! It's a Touran 2.0, manufactured in December 2004, with approximately 45,000 km on the odometer. The dashboard displayed an error message about the exhaust gas recirculation system, but there were no error codes stored in the system.'
It was repaired free of charge by VW..., a new valve was installed!
