Engine: 1Z and AFN, both manufactured in 1996.

Is it a good idea to show up there with an expanded MSG (Mental Status Guidance), or will they immediately send you to the nearest psychiatric institution?

If I replace the MSG (Modular Service Interface), I don't necessarily want to do it at the dealership, and after replacing it, it's probably necessary to re-register the keys.

Or is that even necessary, since the WFS control unit (a separate component) remains unchanged?

(WFS generation 1)

Regards,
Jens.

Hi Jens,
I'm sorry for you, but consider the worst-case scenario icon_wink.gif.

The WFS-STG remembers the number of the MSTG. Therefore, it doesn't matter which one of them is used.
You switch them - they always need to be trained.
The keys are not affected by the MSTG change (they are only linked to the WFS).

Best regards,
Rudi

Hi Jens,

When replacing the MSA12-MSA15 modules on my MJ 96 1Z, I always had to perform the relearning procedure, but it's relatively quick.

Greetings.

Hello Rudi,

In other words, the keys remain "known" to the WFS control unit, but the WFS control unit must be "made known" to the other MSTG.
Do I need the WFS-STG login for that?
Will it remain compatible with the old WFS-STG? I know the code for my current system, which is WFS-STG -- MTSG.

Regards,
Jens.

"If you're changing the engine control unit (ECU), you only need to reset the first block in the workshop information system (WIS) using VCDS or the original tool. Then, the system will automatically detect the new ECU. I've done this several times, and it works perfectly (but only with the older engines, such as the 1Z AFN, etc.)."
