Hello everyone,
I have a non-engine related question for you. On my Passat Variant TDI, 90 hp, manufactured in September 1997, the windshield wipers have been having this problem since this morning: They are moving very slowly. The different speed settings have no effect. The speed remains consistently slow.
Hat einer von Euch eine Idee woran das liegen könnte? Possibly a relay?
I would be grateful for your help.
Best regards, Franz.

Hello Franz,
Are all other electrical appliances working normally (lights, etc.)?
Battery voltage with the engine running is approximately 14V?
Best regards, Rudi.

Unplug the connector, keep the 12V power on, and see what happens. If everything works fine, check the wiring, relays, and switches. If it doesn't work, replace the motor.

Hi Franz!
I had the same problem with my Passat 3B from 07/1997!
The windshield wiper was slowing down...
I was able to fix the problem using silicone grease. I sprayed it into the bearings of the wiper motor and also applied it to the rod bushings located below the windshield.
It worked wonders!
Possibly verschandeln the bearings and bushings beforehand with penetrating oil to remove any dirt and hardened grease!
Regards,
Andreas.
