Hello fellow diesel enthusiasts,

I would like to install an additional instrument to display the oil temperature.

Imagine a digital display (not an analog one with moving needles).

The level on the dipstick or drain plug.

Can you tell me where I can find something like that?

Thank you very much and greetings from Lake Constance.

either
on eBay
or D&W.

Or search for VDO, EQUUS, or RACIMEX.

You'll definitely find something. Just one question: Does the dipstick fit every vehicle?

Hey!
Greetings from Lake Constance again.
What kind of car do you have and what engine does it have? That dipstick is useless; why don't you just install the sensor where the original one was located?

Hi,

I have an Audi A3 with an ASV engine.

Do you have any addresses for that?

Thank you and greetings from Lake Constance.

Hello Tobias,

I built a digital oil temperature display myself.
You will need the following items:

1. Donor:
- Get a VDO oil pan gasket.
- Remove the NTC sensor and insert a PT1000 sensor (Heraeus Sensor Nite) with heat-resistant cable into the housing, filling the space around it with UHU Endfest 300 epoxy adhesive.
The adhesive is completely resistant to heat, aging, and oil!
I've been using this modified sensor in my TDI 110 HP engine for about 1.5 years now.

2. Advertisement.

The advertisement is for a 'Siemens Multifunction Display' and it's available at Conrad Electronics.
Since the display requires 5V, you'll need a voltage regulator.

Oh yes, you can also buy the Pt 1000 at Conrad!

Okay, that's all.
The ad is subtle and reliable, unlike those from companies like D&W and others.

Regards,
Asterix.

I installed a thermometer with a 7-segment display from Conrad, and it runs on 12V.

I embedded the temperature sensor into an original VW housing (but using thermally conductive adhesive). This was necessary because the resistance curve of my sensor runs in the opposite direction to that of the VW sensor.
