Hello,
I have the following question:
Have any of you ever replaced the standard Garrett VNT 15 turbocharger with any of the following?
Garrett VNT 17 turbocharger, suitable for 130PS PD 1.9 TDI engines.
Garrett VNT 20 turbocharger, suitable for 150PS PD 1.9 TDI engines.
I'm asking because I'm interested in this modification, as it could make it easier to achieve the tuned boost pressure, and perhaps even increase it further.
Getting to the charging stations is the least of the problems. The problem is that on my B5, the VNT 15 turbocharger is only 0.8 cm away from the longitudinal support.
My question is now, will the others fit without touching the longitudinal support? Does anyone have technical specifications or diagrams for Garrett turbochargers?
Regards,
Manuel. |

Okay, apparently no one has done this conversion before!
However, I still have a question.
If I install the VNT 17 turbocharger now and connect everything, will my engine run as usual?
Does the VTG control system remain the same? Or do I need to replace the wastegate control valve for it to function properly?
I'm grateful for any response!
Regards,
Manuel. |
