Crash VAG Com when accessing specific ECUs

Hello,

Vehicle: Golf IV 2003, Engine Code ARL
Operating System: Vista
VAG Com 409.1
Adapter = http://shop.dieselschrauber.de/product_info.php/cPath/21/products_id/36 with USB

1. Access to the engine control unit is possible without problems, as is the radio.

2. Access to, e.g., ABS or Central Locking => Crash VAG Com!

3. After restarting the PC and VAG Com, the 1st. function no longer works!

After a simple re-installation of VAG Com, it remains at version 3.0, and VAG Com is not functioning.

First, when the partition on which VAG Com was installed is formatted, and then a new installation of VAG Com is performed, 1. will be successful.

If attempt 2 is made, the result repeats, VAG Com function not working.

What could be the reason for this?
Can the motor and radio be controlled via a different method, such as ABS or central locking?
Could the adapter be defective in this regard? If so, can this cause a permanent (until a complete reinstallation) failure of VAG Com?

Does anyone live nearby (zip code 27419) who might have a suitable adapter to test with?

This seems more like a software problem with the computer, such as a virus or an antivirus program that is not compatible with the VAG-COM.

With Golf 4 ABS, there are no known issues. It should function properly.

The 409.1 is not tested for Vista and is also not specified as a target platform. Nevertheless, it should work.

A small hiccup during the Vista installation, which is not only relevant to VAG-COM: It is best to choose a different installation directory than C:\Programme\... as the installation directory, for example, C:\VAG-COM

The system has been completely reinstalled, so I can rule out malware. I will disable the Norten AntiVirus scanner. But does this explain why it works with some tax devices and not with others?

I've done that. I even set up an extra partition, because I need to format it in order to install VAG-Com effectively. That was too cumbersome for me with Format C.

So, nochmal die Frage: Are the control units listed under "1" accessed differently than those listed under "2"? Or, to put it simply, does the access happen through different cables/pins in the adapter, so that individual defects could be the cause?

No, it goes through the same pin.

If a program crash causes things that used to work to no longer work, and you have to format C:, it definitely means there's a problem with the computer.

Just borrowed a laptop with XP. And lo and behold, everything works. So, the adapter is indeed okay, which Rainer actually already indicated in his last post.

The Vista compatibility seems to be quite poor at the moment. When is an update to Vista intended as a target platform?

Unter XP funktioniert es zumindest bei meinem Auto. Beim Lupo 1.4 Benzin meines Frau kann ich nicht mit dem Motorsteuergerät synchronisieren => "Can't Synch Baud Rate". Aber das ist wohl ein anderes Thema. Although, the thread title actually fits .

In an extended feature set, e.g.? - That hardware runs under a current standard operating system, I would not classify as a feature.

Is an upgrade possible? Or a full new investment?

That was the first thing I tried. Without success.
Does the system need to be restarted for the changes to take effect? I hadn't done that.
