Hello,
"I regularly drive a considerable distance (1000 km) each week with my V6 TDI. When I was thinking about oil change intervals, I came across the company Trabold, which offers bypass oil filtration systems, among other things, for vehicles. What's promised on their website sounds good, but paper and the internet are patient. Has anyone had experience with this or a similar product? Does anyone have such a system installed in a VW/Audi V6 TDI? Where is the system connected?"
Thank you in advance.
Gert.

Extended engine lifespan (customers are already driving over 500,000 kilometers without oil changes)

Ah-ja... and how does this filter synthesize the fragmented molecules again?

Every type of investment like this is always a balancing act between potential return and risk.

Okay, please provide the German text you would like me to translate into English. I will only provide the translation.

Hi Martin,
As far as I know, additives need to be refilled.

Counter question:

Have you ever done a cost analysis?

For me, the following would be:
Approximately €400 for the filter.
With an oil price of 10 euros per liter for LL3 (which is sometimes even cheaper), this results in 40 liters of oil, which means ten LL oil changes for my four-cylinder TDI. Assuming an average LL service interval of 35,000 km (which I often exceed), that's 10 * 35,000 km = 350,000 km plus the initial fill of oil you also put in with the Trarbold filter. So, almost 400,000 km before the Trarbold pays for itself! However, if the engine fails beforehand, you've wasted money unnecessarily.

If I were to participate in such an "experiment," it would have to pay off after at least 2-3 oil changes.
For long-distance vehicles with large oil capacities (over 15 liters), it can quickly become worthwhile, but your Audi is likely far from that.
Gruß Bertil

Wow, Tiffi... Regarding the Russian comment, or rather, the degradation of the oil as a value-added feature in terms of improved lubrication! I can't disprove that, since I'm not a chemist or materials scientist... but? What actually makes LL-Services an LL-oil in the first place? It's certainly not because the LL-oil can absorb more sand, dust, and metal shavings.

A cellulose nonwoven fabric for €400! Literally golden, in the proverbial sense and with a double meaning: its weight in gold + invincibility.

It would be better to send Mr. Trabold to the Oderbruch region to work as a asparagus harvester.

Please read here.

Considering that most V6 TDI engines are only designed to meet the VW standard 50500:
If you change the oil twice a year (every 20-25,000 km) with good quality synthetic oil, it will be beneficial for the engine.
You can also find information about which ones are good online.

A global conspiracy by oil lobbyists and capital...? This is realistic and can be proven as long as the calculation holds that the flow of goods, money, and services is artificially inflated to the greatest extent possible, and ordinary people are involved in every such interaction, suffering and being exploited.

It's certainly realistic to consider the purchase price of a new car as 'cheap.' Considering that even in today's tests, it's often stated that competitors are more expensive than VAG (Volkswagen Group), despite the fact that this extra cost is already offset over the lifespan of the car through maintenance like oil changes (with the old 90,000 km interval).

Otherwise...

'Is that a good essay? I bet they gave them a bar of Milka chocolate for it.'

Sure, here is the translation of the text from German to English:

"Dear Mr. ObenbeiMutti,"
That's a rather embarrassing post! I find all the documents you linked to be very objective and factual, which cannot be said about your commentary. What exactly are you trying to say? You certainly won't be getting that Milka chocolate from your mother with this kind of attitude...

Hi,

I've read something about oil before. To my knowledge, oil degrades chemically over time, losing various properties such as shear stability and heat resistance.

Do all commercial heavy-duty diesel engines use these filters? With mileage of 200,000 km per year, it seems like it should be cost-effective. (Although the stress on the oil in such a "shaker" is probably much lower.)
Viele Grüße
Kai

@obenbeimutti,
You're right about the timing belt.
Regarding the oil change interval, it's only partially true. You can still see the trend towards higher mileage. You have a choice between a longer interval with more expensive oil, or the opposite. Although Volkswagen does offer engines with a 50,000 km service interval, which makes sense in that case.

Hi Hathi,

My posts are often embarrassing, which is the price I pay for my temperament...

But still! What the heck is this again? This utter nonsense...

'Then I'll build one of those things in my barn, complete with an immersion heater or Bunsen burner, and you can all come over to my place and trade four liters of old oil for a piece of smoked meat.'

I have insufficient knowledge of organic chemistry, as well as other subjects.
but in its place, it possesses an even healthier instinct, which is something only befitting a 'teleshopping' channel.

Just the references and the TÜV report on the homepage... and then the essay – for that, I really deserve a big compliment.

Even the engine oil has been meticulously prepared for us. I have to accept that it's considered fashionable in our neoliberal apartheid society to deceive each other.

But if you're going to do it, please put a little more effort into it...

Based on my experience with older diesel engines, old oil tends to become thinner and burn off, regardless of the amount of Russian interference or suspended particles. Therefore, oil consumption increases exponentially as operating time increases.

Even with a fine filter, I end up having to top it off! Do you understand the logic? You don't have to change the filter as often, but you constantly have to add much more water than someone who sticks to the recommended intervals and maybe just adds a little bit towards the end of their cycle.
In the end, both of them used the same amount of oil. I hope that made sense.

I'm also open to being educated, like with the Ultimate Diesel. It actually delivers a 4% increase in performance for an 8% extra cost, or a reduction in fuel consumption... I admit that.
'That's a full 8 horsepower, and I can really feel the difference!'

@Klaus,

I'm probably aware of that...

If a better filter or higher-quality oil were included from the manufacturer, it would initially appear to increase the price for the end consumer, depending on the cost of the hardware.

'The unsuspecting end customer wouldn't consider this normal! According to our market principles, it's about taking advantage of someone (product marketing), making them dependent (workshop), and then exploiting them (bank).'

Depending on the object, it is necessary to carefully weigh and compare the 'Anfixen' and 'Melken' processes against each other.

Replacement cycles of 50,000 km are intended to attract more customers, but they generate more revenue in that regard than they would through increased workshop income, and the higher purchase price effectively contributes to attracting customers.

Therefore... the customer doesn't notice the timing belt failure, but they do notice the oil leak... so we react accordingly.

Consequently, according to the Darwinian model, there is no justification for its existence... only degenerate communal administrations and, of course, MDR *laughing out loud* see things differently, as stated on their website.

your choice

Hello,

Hi,

You're right, I hadn't finished reading it. I thought it was just an advertisement for that filter.

The fact that he approached the matter with more nuance completely went over my head.

Thank you for the hint...
