Hello Karo Species, what type of body filler is best for permanently smoothing a bumper cover that has been reshaped using a heat gun? Is a primer or adhesion promoter required before applying the filler? The goal is to be able to paint it afterwards.

You can repair small imperfections like scratches or scuffs with fiberglass filler, but it shouldn't be applied too thickly, as bumpers are usually subject to vibrations. Prepare the surface as usual by sanding and roughening it, then apply a thin layer of filler, let it dry, and paint. If you want to have it painted professionally, discuss with them what they prefer and what they don't want.

Besides that, there's also plastic filler, which I haven't used yet. It would be good to hear other people's opinions on it.

If you want to have it painted externally, then coordinate with them about what they would like and what they would not like.

The type of synthetic material also influences which materials will adhere or require an adhesion promoter.

If you want to do it perfectly professionally, the material costs will be so high that it's more reasonable to simply have the parts sent to the paint shop untreated. With us, something like that costs around 120 EUR and delivers a satisfactory result.

Sure, why not. The color tone doesn't really matter when it comes to a two-coat system anyway.
