Since my current engine control unit is defective, I have purchased a new, used one. However, since I need a WFS (Vehicle-to-System interface) in the vehicle, the existing WFS and the new ECU must be adapted to each other. How can I do that best?
VAGcom 3.03, OBD-cable and laptop are available. This car is a 1997 Volkswagen Golf 3 Variant with a 110 hp TDI AFN engine.
If an instruction manual for patching is not allowed to be publicly posted, please send me a private message.

Why don't you use VAG-COM 3.112?

because I don't have it. Where can I get it? And how do I adapt the STG and WFS?

Please download version 311.2 from Ross-Tech first, then we can proceed.

Oops, it's a Golf 3, So then address 25 (WFS Steuergerät).
Before saving in the adjustment channel, enter the login code on the plastic key fob as a login (include a leading 0 to make it 5 digits).

On my keys (3 original and one folding key) there is no login code! Can I get one retroactively from VW? The login code is for the WFS or the STG?

Hello,
The login code is for the WFS. It's a small plastic card with 4 digits.

I have now read that the login code is not actually needed, but that you should first select the VAGCom 1 engine control unit, then select the channel to adjust or adapt, then read channel 00 and then save the value 00. The same applies to the STG of the WFS. Is this correct?

Does the Golf 3 TDI, manufactured in 11/97, not already have WFS version 2?
What about my current keys? Do they also need to be reprogrammed?

Hi, good question, I think more WFS1.
The keys are independent of the engine control unit, so no changes are needed.

The new STG arrived yesterday. The VW part number is 028906021 GL, while my old one had the letters GH. The Bosch part number also has a different last digit. New: 6, Old: 2
An expression from 2005, when the STG was purchased, is also present, and it states that it was for the Passat and A4. Therefore, it was for both VW and Audi. I'm curious to see if this works on Monday...

Okay, I finished adjusting it yesterday. It took about 5 minutes. Finally, I don't have those annoying error codes anymore, like "suction pressure regulation difference" or "control unit defective," even after I've given it some gas.

Yes, have you used the login (PIN) yet? So, WFS1 or 2 for the car?
Best regards, Rainer
